One of the locals took this yesterday afternoon. What a way to ruin the weekend! Hope the sleds are ok. The wind is blowing so be careful out there.

That sucks!!! Hope everything (and everyone) is ok!! Those enclosed trailers are like huge sails with high winds. Tipping it back up hurt anything? Lots of force on the frame getting it back onto its wheels.

The guy who brought in the pic said he thought all people were ok. I don't know anything else. Posted the pic hoping someone who does know would tell us all about it.

I was in the truck. Scared the S*** out of all of us!! A gust of wind picked the trailer about four feet of the ground and swung truck and trailer completley side ways before everything hit the ground!! Never saw anything like it in my life!! Tow truck flipped it back over and we actually towed it home.

The trailer is fixable for the most part. Total damage between the four sleds is most likely going to be under $ 1000.00. Like one would expect with 500 lb. sleds rolling around on top of each other. Handle bars, some plastic parts and pieces, one set of upper and lower a-arms, and a few scratches. Not bad concidering the possibilities!

On the trailer wreck...

Almost the same thing happened to me a few years ago. On our way to minneapolis for a snowmobile race and then some riding. Hit a patch of ice and the truck spun causing a whip. Then the breakaway cable got caught around the hitch and pulled it out. By the time I got the whole rig stopped, the trailer plopped over at the very end.

Worst part was, I didnt take a single picture...

Yeah, I thought about snappin some good pics. But my camera was in windshield bag some where under the weight of a Rev. My bro in law got some more on his phone. I will post when I get them.

What happens in these types of situations with insurance claims on the snowmobiles. Does the pickup driver's insurance cover the snowmobile damage or do the owner's each make their own claim on their snowmobile insurance?

This is why I always put the tie down bar on my skis and then slip a tie down strap on the back, just snug.. So if the trailer goes upside down for a ride my sled has a good chance of staying on the deck..

Sucks that it happened though, at least you got to tow it home

We'll find out about that in the next few days. I always thought insurance would cover trailer but not contents. We'll keep fingures crossed. Still could have been worse. Feelin kinda lucky about the whole thing. That could have been S***** if some one had been comin the other way.....

Your truck insurance should cover it. As I understand it is that what ever you are towing your truck ins is supposed to cover it.

It will depend on your individual insurance coverage. Chances are, the owner of each sled will have to go through his own insurance company. Again, it depends on the policy.

It's a reminder to everyone to read their policies......

What gets me is that people have no problem spending thousands of dollars on there sleds and thousands more on mods but can't justify spending a few bucks on insurance.

I checked into that with my insurance man before I pulled a new trailer, and 4 brand new sleds behind my truck and he said it all depends on the coverage you have and for what amount. The truck would have to have towing coverage and it still will not cover what is on the trailer, just the trailer.

I have spoken to my insurance guy on tha very same topic. If the trailer is connected to the insured vehicle then the trailer and all contents are covered. I would check your policy to ensure you are covered.

this is real simple guys.........you need to insure your sleds. mine are covered no matter what including middle of the summer in the garage...........i have a rider on my homeowners policy, that covers all for a bout 170.00$ per year

Sorry to hear/see that greencat...glad everyone's alright. Things could always be worse, like you mentioned...on-coming traffic. We were towing a 4-place open in extremely icey/snowcovered roads at slow speeds. We came through a town with a 90* turn, trailer spun out behind us, causing truck to do a 180 right in the middle of town. There was an oncoming semi pulling a full load of timber that saw us spinning and stopped within feet of where we ended up. Our trailer jackknifed, smashing into the drivers side rear door. Thankfully everyone was alright and sleds were still there. Sometimes its best to stay another day and ride vs battling road conditions.

Thanks for the pics update Schwartz. Team Kesslers will be pulling into the snowy mountain lodge wed. morning. It will be our first time here, so if anyone is looking for others to ride with or wants to show us around a bit, watch for the IQr, renegade, & M7 trio. Were planning on doing some filming as well.

I rode Thursday Friday and Saturday. it snowed the first to days. the riding wasnt to bad if you were in ther trees the whole like we were. It still needs a good base cuz we hit a lot of rocks.

I would poast some pics but dont no how to yet
