THATS FUNNY RIGHT THERE... NICE! I LOVE this forum... but didnt agree to the pay thing for one main reason: it seemed to be for alot of extra-curricular stuff that "prettied" the site up but really didnt add much function... IMOA just shoulda left it as a forum and kept the GREAT community around. $10.00 (or $30.00) really wasnt much for the service and what is on here, but EVERYONE these days is wanting "$10.00". It starts to add up.

LOL, they already do. A huge % of all internet search results are paid advertisements in some form or another. Why do you think Google keeps coming up with ways to get us to use thier search results in other forms (google earth, maps, 411, etc).


If I owned the site I would charge a nominal fee for the classifieds. That would be more palatable to the membership and would likely make the same or more revenue. I have sold at least 20 things on here and even at $5 a pop that is a lot more than my $10/year membership fee. I used to pay $15-18/year for the print mag and now don't have to. All in all $10 a year is reasonable.

To each thier own though. This is the format they have chosen and its thier site, so they can do what they want. They are being very tolerant of the complainers. If I owned the site you would all be banned. Your not good for business

I couldn't agree more. $30 bucks for 3 years of magazines is a great deal. You are money ahead to pay the $30 bucks and not renew the paper copy. Thanks Snowest.

This is concerning snowest starting to charge for there forums.
So here is what happens next. all your members are mad and know that the companys get gready. they are very succesfull with there forums, but you think, well we should start charging for this service that everyone uses. then all your costomers know that you are no longer a loyal company, and you want to rip us off. so you lose more than half of your costomers. but you dont care, your getting money for doing nothing from all your gullable costomers, we will all find a forum that will not charge to put adds online. ( which is very easy to do online for free) i promise you that your company will not succeed online. you will lose subscribers from your magazine as well. which by the way i was a subscriber to snowest. but not any more. good riddenz snowest. it was good while it lasted.


BTW...WTF is a costomer? Is that like a polymer with different chemical compounds? Or is that a hybrid word for Costco customers? Polar Express makes a good point....Grammar at less than 4th grade level does not lend much creditability and is a PITA to even read. I would either delete the post or at a minimum correct it. And no spelling doesnt count unless it looks like something from a third world country!

I think there are plenty of "raisins" for someone to subscribe, but its your money so place your vote with it. I just don't get why people are so angry. Its a business people and they are trying to make $$$. They weren’t before and they made this change in an effort to regain profitability. That's the American way. If you don't like it, start your own forum and compete. I think its lame too, but I made my choice to stay and get on with my life. I am over it now.

I have a few comments on all this.

First off, I do not like the new "pay for your membership" change. Like previously stated, basically paying for a bunch of cosmetic changes that I don't care about.

Secondly, for all of these people harping on this guy for his poor grammar and spelling skills.... who cares? Talking about credibility because he has bad spelling? I understood his argument.... couldn't you? I know you did because you are commenting on it?

Not everybody is perfect, and I know when I type emails to friends I go slack on the spelling and grammar technique....

One last point... for the one person who started the whole "credibility and use spell check but i agree with your point"... I believe you had a point in your post to not personally attack anybody or something along those lines... isn't that what you just did to him? or does the "I'm not being ignorant, I truly am trying to help you" comment make it all better?

Anyways, I will not pay for a membership with sno west, I don't think I should pay for something when I could just call up the dealer and ask if I have a question... and like previously stated, there are other forums that everybody will transfer over to... even your paying customers will probably open an account or already have accounts with these other forums.

It is amazing how so many of you will complain how everything needs to be free. You all sound like a bunch of Liberal Democrats. Who by the way are taking away all of our riding areas. In forum after forum you complain about how everything costs to much or that you have to pay for this or that. Wake up it costs money to run a business and keep our riding areas open. Are you all socialistic liberals who work for free? From the sounds of it, it looks as if 75% of you on this forum have never had to do anything for your self. Do you all get everything for free, have any of you been involeved in running a business? You all need to face the fact snowmobiling costs money. If you all want to complain about something start writting to your congresman about what is happening to our ridding areas. Support your local dealers who help keep our riding areas open. First off, that's a pretty bold statement to make about 75% of people who you don't know. Also you can be liberal about something like snowmobiling, first you must actually know what you're saying when you use words like that

Wow, in the future, you should give a try to turning the brain to the "on" position before you start to type. The premise you base your argument on is about as silly as it gets and completely counter to the reality of the situation.

I see a few folks making this argument but I'm struggling to understand it. From what I can tell, they are providing us with a tool that enables us to share ideas, and they have elected to charge what I feel is a very reasonable fee to use it. We are paying for this service...this tool. Its a tool that the majority in our sport use. There are plenty of other forums to go to and share ideas without being charged, but they just don't see the traffic and draw from such a huge base. Someday that may change but so far it hasn't.

As for issues with the admin on this forum and how they have handled some things, that's different. If you believe that strongly about it, that's a great reason to move on and take your money elsewhere.

The fact is that tons of other forums are able to operate without charging it's members. Some are much smaller and some are much bigger. The simple fact it that if the others are able to make it, Snowest should be able to as well if it was properly managed like the others apparently are.

I guess i would have to say that with all of the advertising you would think they could make enough to pay the bills. I would also say that there are other free forums out there like Hard Core Sledders HCS and Back Country Rebels BCR that cheapskates are switching to. I guess when sno west starts losing $ because advertisers don't pay to be on a page that members have to pay for as well maybe they will re think it.

And yes $10 is not much but next year it will be $15 then $20 and so on.
