I would like to hear where this "rumor" is coming from? There was a question posed a while back, but that never went anywhere. NONE of the popular message boards in any topic out there are pay. The only way I could see this site flying as a pay site would be if there was a lot of publisher generated content. I highly doubt that since they can barely scrape together a few "articles" for each issue of thier magazine that are just advertisements.
I would probably pay a nominal fee since it will be a LONG time until another site has the amount of information SW has. But I think charging would be LAME and a poor way to fund this site.

Oh I just got a typical arrogant responce in the form of a PM from his holiness.
I got an infraction for profanity from Christopher.
Thats dang funny since I was the one who added all the little *** instead of spelling out the entire word, not your Profanity Sensor Program, No profanity was used.
If someone could do a search (I'm at work and I don't have the time) for a thread a while back, about 8 months or so, we were talking about this same subject exactly.
The funny thing is, back then I was willing to pay for this site and so were most of the folks who responded because it WAS well run and not overly moderated or un-necessarily censored.
Now that it has lost a great deal of it's personality and most senior members it's really becoming a joke.
I am no longer interested in giving them one fuc**ng penny to log on an be pissed about another cutsie, stupid addition Christopher has deemed necessary for OUR forum.
The speed, or lack of is directly related to all the stupid crap you flung on the site. There's no way to deny it...
It was faster before you **cked it all up.
I don't give a fat flying Fu*k how important he feels he is.
It's the input and technical suggestions from the members that made this site what it used to be.
I'll be hanging out with a huge influx of former Snowest forum members over at http://backcountryrebels.com/index.php for now.
It's damn fast and there doesn't appear to be any as**oles trying to turn it into Twitter or facebook or any other teen site.

Most will visit both forums, I will, but eventually I see a mass migration away from SW because of the "Changes" forced upon us including the possibility of this becoming a pay site.
Looks like home over there too!
Eventually, enough folks will make the move to retain the knowledge that this place had in the tech sections.
But was it justified?? I know most warnings are not. I got one from MMsports just because he is to immature to play nice. He came into the utah section bashing utah peeps. I can't tolerate an immature little boy call my peeps names....

So I ask, Are they truly trying to tear this site down to a worthless nothing. Or are they just like our government and have no idea how to operate and manage a business?
I for one won't pay a dime to some one who will continue to sensor what I can and can not say. If I pay I have the say!
This is exactly the problem I have with the site, VENDORS SHOULD NOT BE MODS they see things differently than those of us not trying to sell things. And to top it all off, one in particular can barely communicate through
written text, sometimes I have to read something he's written several times and fill in all the blanks just to make sense of it.
Mods should NEVER moderate an area they haven't been assigned just because someone says something they don't like...AND THAT'S WHATS BEEN GOING ON
I realize the speed issue will be resolved, there's no way around it...Its everything added together that's got everyone all fired up
