Silber Install Tips

Here's my remody for getting the hoses away from the housing and off the Jack shaft.
a mounting eye for an exhaust spring riveted to the tunnel inching a zip tie through some old gas line
a piece of aluminum riveted over the shaft under the other hose

Mounting the turbo I see a much more important problem

There is no way this charge hose is going to work???? If I get it close its kinked real bad, unless we are trying to utilize the garden hose effect? Pinch the tube so the charge blasts in under some serious pressure haha

Now fire it up to inflate the charge tube!

It wouldn't hurt you to loosen off all the bolts holding on the hot side and rotate it a little clockwise. It'll get the outlet lower and lined up a little better. Just make sure you adjust the wastegate arm properly after u rotate the housing and torque those bolts back down to spec. Hope this helps

Josh see the other thread about the Silber turbo. He talks about cutting that tube back 1.5" to get it to fit and building a guard around the jackshaft.

Josh, mine fits exactly the same way. i used a little WD40 inside the tubing so it would turn easier, and twisted it a bit from where you are in the pics. there was still a slight kink in it when i was done. after a couple of rides the boost has 'inflated' it. it now looks perfect.

We cut them hoses long on the turbo side, so the end user has some triming to do for a desired fit. Use alot of soapy water or lubrication and it makes it a breeze.

Does anyone else have there mag side exhaust valve bolt rubbing on there pipe? mines chewed into the ceramic coating abit.

Anyone elses doing this?

mine has clearence for my finger to go between.....did your pipe shift?

Hmm dont see how it could shift, cuz once its seated on the y then the turbo its gonna sit where it wants to sit... maybe ill try taking the pipe off and putting it back on.

This is on a 12

Im hoping my turbo will be here end of next week so I will see how it changes fit up on my 11

One 'TIP' i can add to this thread is:

on the BIG plug from the Wide-band O2 sensor to the gauge, use electrical grease in the plug to prevent moisture from getting into the pins. i pooched my O2 sensor on my first ride because of this. very warm wet snow day, when i unplugged my sensor i poured water out of the plug. $100.00 lesson........

I would also recommend a little silicone in key spots around the gauges to prevent moisture from fogging up the displays.

AND don't disregard Justin's instructions on grinding down the clutch side bolt head to prevent it from touching the Bulkhead. this WILL cause false DET signals to your computer..........

ENJOY the kit.. I sure am. :canada:

clutch side bolt head???? i must have different instructions? what bolt head?

it may be cut long but it seems theres not enough to get a hoseclamp on the box side? and you could have gone with the next size bigger hoseclamp. is this just general heater hose? why didnt you use actual silicon boost hose? i saw one pokeing around for an 2002 audi s4 that looks about right but can only find it in a kit

I must say, this is a pretty sweet kit, but there are definately things that could be done to make it perfect.
For example: if the clutch side airbox bolt needs to be ground down why doesn't he do this to begin with? & better/updated instructions! & joshkoltes is right, the turbo and airbox could mount up a little better.

You guys are just spoiled its a bolt on kit. Go install a impulse kit on a nytro or apex and see which is easier. Guess I know in any bolt on kit there is some modifying to fit perfect. I mean look at all the stuff you are stuffing under the hood.

low

im going to try and lower the turbo mount point by reverseing it. i have enough clearance with my two hose holders i hope. i will try to mount the turbo bracket under the rubber under the mount with the washer on top? at least itll give up another inch, might work might not?

so

It seems that I screwed up again. Hard to tell where the new wire harness is to be routed when hooking up the injectors. I hooked it up with it routed towards the turbo in the big open space I guess it should have been the other way. Not looking forward to taking it all the way apart again.

The head of the bolt that holds the airbox to the billet intake boots. the head of the bolt will touch the Bulkhead as the motor Torque twists under boost. thus setting off the DET sensor.

If the cables are not long enough just take off the tank and remove the airbox. You can leave the turbo and everything else on.

hard

The only hard part is putting that charge hose on. I don't ever WANT to do that again but it all might reach? I did get it on but its only under the clamp half way around half of the air box inlet.
Kind of toqued the instructions didn't have me put the blue selinoid hose on the throttle bodies in the beginning. Might be able to sneak in there with a needle nose
Man there are alot of wire connectors on this thing!!!! So the selinoid plugs into the new box right into the connector that looks like one for the injector? Instructions say to find another accessory plug up by the handle bars that doesn't exist
