can you explain why not to use 2 stroke injection oil in the turbo? Last year when i woud roll my sled over with 5w 30 auto motive oil the engine did not like it. an yea i know theres a check valve in the oil tank to stop oil from leaking, but it still has oil in the turbo and has to go somehwere...

I know of a turbo builder thats been using 2 stroke on 100 plus sled over the past three years with great success. I have switched this year and all is well so far. I am just curious as to why not?

I run two stroke oil in my two strokes turbos for this very reason. Run it and don't worry about it, it will be just fine.

I have always run 2 stroke synthetic in my turbos. OVS, BD and a few others I believe run it. Not arguing here, just what I have been told. I really don't think it matters, but I have been wrong before.:face-icon-small-ton

I wouldn't, the 5/30 synthetic flows alot better than 2 stroke oil. Maybe if you had a high volumn pump but Silbers pump is low psi.

If you want a turbo to last then use standard motor oil as 2 stroke oil will coke up the bearings

How did you get your tank empty enough so that when you pulled the lines it didn't pour gas out? Is there a good shop in the Puget Sound area that would HELP me install my Silber kit? I want to do as much of the work myself but have a set of experienced eyes on my while I am doing it and help when I get stuck. I know most shops hate having a customer even in the shop while their sled is being worked on but I don't have any friends I trust with this. I live in Auburn, WA.

The lines sit up high so you wont have to worry about gas pouring out

This is simply not true and has been proven over many thousands of miles on turbo 2 stroke sleds.

I disagree. If your experience has been good with running 2 cycle oil in a turbo thats good, but a lot of data proves otherwise. Theres a small turbo manufacture called borg warner that I do work with and this conversation has came up in the past regarding to 2 cycle engine oil and using it as the oil for the bearings. I do a bit of development work with BW on turbos and am going to trust there R&D on this subject. 2 cyle oil will create coking in a turbo over time. Any turbo should be able to last a a few thousand miles B&W designs turbos to last 200,000-1million miles dependend upon application.
