SHR880 Challenge - bring it.

Made it to Lincoln. My old man wasn't able to go so I left the 880 at home and rode the turbo. Mini's gf rode his 872 and it worked great. Mini was riding Apex running around 20lbs of boost, fastest climbing sled there w/out a doubt (lots of watchers). The 3" tracks were a big factor w/ the snow conditions we had. Snow was fairly soft and sifting around. There was not a lot of racing going on w/ the visibility being fairly poor most of the time.

Mini back on his 872 pulled me out of the lake bowl. We started right at the base. He shot out w/ the 3" so I had a lot of catch up to do. Caught up at the top, but he still won. 872 on on the happy gas (overreving) ran a turbo Cat w/ 3 until about 2/3 up the same hill. Then turbo went right by. Same T-Cat blew my doors off up a different bowl, all on traction. Time to junk the stock '09 cheese grater I guess.

Just based on the changing snow, I think 880 (2.5 camo) would have beat 872 out of main bowl (that's where Tcat smoked my turbo) and in the lake bowl 872 would have gotten 880 in the lower part of the hill and been catching it at the top where it flattened out a some. The 3'' stayed trenched in and the smaller lugs seemed to get back on top after a crest in the hill (comparing my turbo w/ 872--the 880 gets on top way better than my turbo w/ its track and suspension). Backwards of what most way when switching to 3", but that it was it felt like. Obviously I'm just guessing because the 880 was still at home, but both motors work so good, I believe the track was going to be the deciding factor and results would change w/ the snow conditions.
Cool good to hear sounds like a good time.

Did you get any video? Sounds like a fun day. You are saying the 3" track seamed to keep digging through the snow instead of climbing up on top of the snow, like the 2.5" track? What sled do you have the 3" on? Have you done anything that would change the attack angle on the 3" sled? I like what I have been hearing about the 3" on BB's, so I am curious about feed back.

I don't have any vid, I'll check w/ my sister, she may have taken some w/ her cell. 872 was running 3" w/ Timbersled but I really don't think most people regret going 3", I just don't think it is necessarily for me. Depending on snow, there are times when it can be a little to aggressive but this doesn't happen very often. In the steeper part of the hill, all sleds were digging in, advantage 3", when the hill tapered out some 3 still seemed to stay set about the same depth, shorter lug came up and started picking up speed (really wish I'd have brought 880 because my comparison is w/ my turbo). It was really noticeable if deciding to change directions. 3" felt really settled in, my turbo w/ crappy '09 track, changed directions easily. 3" was still easy to ride, but it would take some getting used to compared w/ my normal riding style. If your not into big climbs or quick turns into a steep ledge/bank that you want to pop over, I don't see where the 3" is going to be a huge advantage say over a camo or even flex edge w/ 2.5 lugs. Obviously, it should outperform a lower lug track as the snow gets deeper, but how often do you get the big dumps. For just boondocking through the trees and sidehilling, narrowing the sled will be a bigger advantage than the track, again just my opinion. My sled narrowed up 4" is unbelievable the way it will hold a side hill. Rider size would be a big difference also. I way around 160, so someone bigger is going to have a completely different opinion.

Any one going 3" that has a good 2.5 flex edge or camo, shoot me a pm. I'd prefer the camo w/ the 16" base and 15" lugs. Just to warn you, I'm a cheap bugger:face-icon-small-hap.

So what is a used 2.5" worth? 16 wide camo. I may have one?

Is your's the full 16" lugs and what condition? I'd split the numbers Lefty gave and pick it up if you go 3", assuming track is near perfect. Scrat, you gave that thing away.

The point was/is there is MORE than 1 guy who builds a good motor...

SHR860/880ETECS are always built to the highest standards and with the Wossner forged pistons I have the best dual ring piston on the market (even better than stock)...period.

RKT is the only other shop using these (custom spec) BB pistons :amen:

Short of a .020" bore diff (bigger or smaller) we carry water for no one...:face-icon-small-sho

SHR works with/for many dealers on installing complete clutching/gearing/chassis/track packages (the TEAM clutch is not required:face-icon-small-con) since I actually ride/tune where YOU ride...

Summer pricing in effect so please call...BJ:face-icon-small-coo

The SHR860/880 T3s will be completely killer!!!

what that guy^^ said...hesasmartfeller...:face-icon-small-coo

If it's better than I should get 5000 plus miles.

What is your hard on with SHR dude?

Seriously you say some of the dumbest stuff. Not sure what your motivation is but it is very clear your purpose is to stalk SHR and take as many shots as you can, regardless of how outlandish, or wrong and un-truthful they may be.

John, any issues running your pistons in a carbed Bikeman 880?

Deep Powder Guy, doesnt just got a hard on for SHR he has one for anyone who makes aftermarket parts. Complete waste of forum space if you ask me. He will eventually be gone, he is constantly negative and treats others like sh!t.
