SHR880 Challenge - bring it.

All I was saying is that if the 872 had the extra $800 worth of goodies...billet head, bored carbs, reeds, ypipe....your race would probably end with different results. Sorry for raining on the shr parade

ron, no rain here...just the ETEC has the advantage day one (no goofy intake track and 52 mm throttle bodies)...it takes the "extras" on a carb motor to match the stock components on a ETEC...the BB loves the 52s :face-icon-small-hap

tetonice...LOL, just like 10 years ago...cant nail JELLO to a tree...:face-icon-small-hap

clearly the de-railers are in full damage control...hope most see that and take the positive points from this thread and ignore the rest...sad-BJ:face-icon-small-coo

There's an endless amount of variables that could have changed the results of the "race" to go either way.

The main point of this thread was to get a group of guys together that have BB sleds and to go have some fun! The winner was to be decided at the end of the day after ripping up the trees in waste deal powder! Unfortunately a few members have muddied it up with their opinions of how a race should be put together.

For all the posts and BB boys in the club here and only a couple guys an get together to run....for "fun"... I'm disappointed?
It's been a great read and funny as hell......but...
Theres one thing that always brings guys out of the woodwork......

$$$$$$$$$$ Cashola $$$$$$$$$ good ole money.......so

Heres the new "Snowest BB Challenge" I propose:

"Get a "Kitty" going... every rider here who wants to participate throws in an agreed amount (say$200) to an agreed upon member to be in charge of said "Kitty" and I bet you get a $3k purse quick and payout goes to top 3. This kitty holding member must obviously be present at the "BB Challenge" . Everybody who pays in gets to be a member of the "tech" crew checking whatever you want on any sled and deciding if its ok to enter said challenge. All sleds are checked before they run that very morning in the "all riders included tech crew" "pow wow"....absolutely nothing will need to be checked after or during the challenge. It will be an "open hood" tech. If you don't like what you see you remove yourself from the challenge or you openly voice your concerns over someones sled. It has to be majority decision to eliminate )a sled from the challenge or demand a condition (aka:remove nitrous bottle}
Run two or 3 at a time with triple elimination and give guys 30 minutes to change gearing / clutching or whatever. After 3- 3rd place finishes you are out. If anybody wants to sponsor this challenge with more $$$$ just throw it in the kitty. This will give everyone a reason to travel and have fun and have a chance to at least break even in expenses going to this thing. Everything gets to be posted here on Snowest for our reading & viewing pleasure.

It will take 4 guys to actually run this "BB Challenge" :
1. The Boss....runs this thing
2. Starter.... you know what he does
3. Finish line guy
4. Second finish line guy
one of these guys has to be the kitty holder

It will take this in supplies:
1. 2 notebooks
2. duct tape, paper, big marker to put identifying number on sleds, helmets, foreheads.... wherever.
3. Envelopes for cash
4. starter flag,
5. 4- cones (2 start, 2 finish)
6. 2 cans snow paint
7. 3 radios

I'm sure I missed something but this should get some more chatter going as we head into Spring.
So whose in?

Sounds like Snow Days in Thayne they do similar except rather than pass the Kitty guys are making side bets as to who the winner of each race will be. I agree lots of fun

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lvlwVeNpFAk Heres a simple clip racing a turbo pro at 9K. I clearly wave him ahead at the start and he took a line he just climbed several times, I went straight up and realed him in pretty frickin quick.. Priceless is when he gets to the top and i,m already there, He looks down at his motor!. Yes he took a different line , its same results every time, A fantastic running 880 with a 3 inch flat rocks on the hill.I have many clips with same results , running a 880 Full mod however i,m running a 156x3 and he was heavier by a solid 40 lbs with stock 163 track.

Nice work Bob. That sled runs very well

Good to hear about your sled Slim. Just to make clear, I wasn't trying to imply you were having issues w/ the big bore. I've had friends w/ Pro's have electrical issues w/ their turbos, never once ended up being from the sleds modifications. Anyway, thanks for clearing up the "race" you had w/ the a 872.

If anyone is interested, their should be quite a few sleds of various states of tune in Lincoln, MT on April 5th. Check out the sno-b-que in the MT section. It always allows for some good competition. Big enough hills to allow the four strokes to show who is definitely the power king and allow the big bores to show the turbo two strokes, if it is not set up properly, they've wasted a lot of money. Depending on snow depth, the 3" tracks can really shine also. Makes for a good time seeing what works.

Well swrev How did things pan out did you go?:face-icon-small-coo

Made it to Lincoln. My old man wasn't able to go so I left the 880 at home and rode the turbo. Mini's gf rode his 872 and it worked great. Mini was riding Apex running around 20lbs of boost, fastest climbing sled there w/out a doubt (lots of watchers). The 3" tracks were a big factor w/ the snow conditions we had. Snow was fairly soft and sifting around. There was not a lot of racing going on w/ the visibility being fairly poor most of the time.

Mini back on his 872 pulled me out of the lake bowl. We started right at the base. He shot out w/ the 3" so I had a lot of catch up to do. Caught up at the top, but he still won. 872 on on the happy gas (overreving) ran a turbo Cat w/ 3 until about 2/3 up the same hill. Then turbo went right by. Same T-Cat blew my doors off up a different bowl, all on traction. Time to junk the stock '09 cheese grater I guess.

Just based on the changing snow, I think 880 (2.5 camo) would have beat 872 out of main bowl (that's where Tcat smoked my turbo) and in the lake bowl 872 would have gotten 880 in the lower part of the hill and been catching it at the top where it flattened out a some. The 3'' stayed trenched in and the smaller lugs seemed to get back on top after a crest in the hill (comparing my turbo w/ 872--the 880 gets on top way better than my turbo w/ its track and suspension). Backwards of what most way when switching to 3", but that it was it felt like. Obviously I'm just guessing because the 880 was still at home, but both motors work so good, I believe the track was going to be the deciding factor and results would change w/ the snow conditions.

Too much reading for me. Give me the short version. So the SHR 880 was the clear winner?

The point was/is there is MORE than 1 guy who builds a good motor...

SHR860/880ETECS are always built to the highest standards and with the Wossner forged pistons I have the best dual ring piston on the market (even better than stock)...period.

RKT is the only other shop using these (custom spec) BB pistons :amen:

Short of a .020" bore diff (bigger or smaller) we carry water for no one...:face-icon-small-sho

SHR works with/for many dealers on installing complete clutching/gearing/chassis/track packages (the TEAM clutch is not required:face-icon-small-con) since I actually ride/tune where YOU ride...

Summer pricing in effect so please call...BJ:face-icon-small-coo

The SHR860/880 T3s will be completely killer!!!

Since you claim to have the best dual ring piston on the market ( better than stock ) do you have any of your motors with over 5000 miles on them using the same piston and ring ?

Why do ewe even care?? In your own words a BB will run no harder than a stocker.........unless you look in the turbo section where you mention that a BB is another option. It's obvious you only set out to derail the SHR BB threads. Run along now....:lips:

As far as 880 pistons and I,ve run every one made, SHR,s are superior. The taper is better, oil holes and design is flawless. I assure you they are better in my motor than a stock piston, Hell the stock pistons had ZERO compression!
