doo xm test ride - impressed

Good review, had a very similar experience on my test ride. As stated many times I have a 2012 XP and a 2012 Pro. I prefer the XP in most riding conditions. I just got back from a Dan Adams Clinic in Wyoming. Awesome clinic btw, learned a lot and had a blast. I decided to ride the Pro all three days to learn as much as I could about that sled and see if I changed my opinion. I didn't ride my XP at all which I probably should have to get a fair comparison. The Pro worked really well in the lighter, drier Wyoming snow. I don't know if it was better but I did everything I needed it to do for 3 days. Dan told me the 13 was a significantly better sled, the belt drive was a huge part of that. I just read the Snowest Deep Powder Challenge issue. I could not disagree more with their review of the XM. They really slammed it for poor handling. They were much kinder to the 2012 XP than they were in this issue to the XM. WTF? And the criticism was nearly universal, no one seemed to like it at all.

That was not the 13 XM in the deep powder challenge it was the 12 XP. There was an article on the new XM in there but no ride review.

Thanks PV great video!!:face-icon-small-coo This winter has just sucked for me!! Only one good snow where I live and 4 days ago it started warming up quick and now its in the 70's and very very dry! We have had grass fires everywhere, all the geese are already back also, the skies are filled with them around my house in the country. Looks like you guys still have great snow up there, enjoy it, I know I would be doing the same thing you are!!:face-icon-small-hap

thanks but i didn't put the video together. one of the other guys with us put it together. although, i guess the dealer got "yelled" at pretty bad by brp for the part of the video where my buddy hucked it. pretty funny :)

yes, the front end of the xm feels completely different than the xm. yes, we are having a pretty epic year. but living up here we are lucky in that i can't remember a year that we having had multiple rides like that. this year has been particularly good but we always manage to find good snow. some years you just have to be willing to drive a little farther than others (3-4 hours rather than 1-2)

Talked to a really reliable source who rode both 13's and he said the xm rides like a pro. He still prefered the pro because it was 47 pounds lighter. He agreed with me that it is still a bandaid for a chassis problem when you have to narrow them up 3 inches narrower, along with the rear suspension and track, to try and achieve the same goal.
Finally, a couple of sleds that you literally don't have to do anything to to have fun on. Never thought I could see the day when I could have fun on a stock sled.

Looks like Doo will have a contender next year!
Now if Poo just puts a 170 HP direct injected beast in the Pro-(hint hint are you listening Polaris)
Can't imagine they aren't working on something

Few more points to ponder, owning both XP's and a Pro, and looking at the 12 pro, 11 XP, and an XM side by side on the ground, but no ridey.

- XM lacks vertical steering, if that trips your trigger. Having had both in the past, I am a fan of vertical steering now.

- The doo stock clutching and stock secondary setup is still a PITA. Nothing that money can't solve, but it ain't free. And pricing on the XM is getting competitive. 3yr warranty is nice. Pro is still a cheaper ride OOTB.

- The potential weakpoint on the pivot is also material quality dependent. Good materials aren't cheap, but make a huge different in longevity. Ask AC about this with regards to their (former) DD.

- The Pro RMK is not just the #1 selling sled in the west. Through Feb., in 2012, the Pro RMK 155 800 was the #1 sled sold in the US of any single model, according to the ISMA. The point is - that sled is now the target for everyone else. Game on, we win as mountain sled riders.
