Question: Worst sled you've ever owned?

worst sled

1976 evenrude skimmer. several chrome cylinders and pistons. at least two cdi boxes. had boggie rear suspension and leaf springs out of a mack truck up front. wasn't old enough to buy my own, my dad wouldnt let me buy one. so i had to keep fixing it. it was the last year of a three year build of the up twins omc made. weighed about 700 pounds, solid steel frame. you talk about a lead sled.

I am going to say it was my 88 formula mx, it seemed every weekend it was something new going wrong. That was the days that bombi used clips only on the track and i would shear them all off LOL.

LOL!! I've owned every brand, old to new, over the last 30 years and I can't for the life of me remember the "WORST" sled......they all had two skis and a track and all went where I wanted.......They all had their strong points and their weak areas. I've never truely ridden a bad sled.............. Only ridden a "BAD" rad sled or two!! LOL!!! I have, on occasion, had a sled ride me though! LOL!!!.... ;)

96 ULTRA RMK....nothing else even close! Finally got rid of it (97 700RMK
which I still own) and started enjoying riding again!
It was heavy, under-powered, un-reliable, WOW what a turd!

Currently own a 08 XP, a blast to ride, no issues at all (still on
original belt) I think set-up on these was the key (thanks Slim).
Still have an 01 800 RMK that is on it's second crank rebuild, but, it is a blast to ride, just not too reliable....
97 700 RMK, most reliable sled I have ever owned and still goes great
in the deep stuff!

03 Rev 800

Powder Special 700

Out of the majority though, the worst sleds ive ever owned were skidoo's. Will never ever buy a bombadier product, complete and utter junk from the case to the carbs to the track.

Hell....their all junk

Deffinitely my old 92 Wildcat 700....that thing ate clutches and cranks steady. When it did run it was a harsh workout to sidehill or carve. I liked it so much I sold it to my mother in law.:D

95 670 summit by a mile(and I own an 05 Polaris 900.) I swear it was a new starter rope every other ride. It was heavy, suspension was junk, and my 97 580 dominated this thing in a climb.

I didn't own it but my buddy still does. Worst sled EVER 05 rmk 900. My buddy is a aggressive rider. Seriously ever since he has owned it. he has never made it a full day with out it breaking. Most recently *yesterday* the track ripped right out from under it on a hill climb. I am so sick of pulling that piece of crap out of the woods. It is a TANK. Way to heavy. It has ruined so many days of riding for us that I have considered writing polaris a letter explaining all of the problems we have had, not expecting anything out of it but just to let them know what they missed. Sorry if I seem a bit too pissed but I am just sick of that disaster of a snowmobile. Too many horrible experiences.

why all ski-doos?...not sure but i won't try another....94 mach-z, heavy turd that i couldn't keep a center piston in for more than 3 rides...first 670 summit, 95 i think, heavy, no weight transfer and an altitude compensating system that never did work.....and last but not least, an 08 xp, more problems due to lack of factory developement than any sled i've seen in the last 8 years, and virtually no factory help for the problems....nope, no more ski-doo, truely garbage....

07 xrs

I hate to say it, because I still own it, but I have spent more on diesel bringing this sled to the shop than it's worth.

1 motor
belts - to many to count
clutching in general - If I ever have to pull a clutch off again it will be too soon.

It has been running good for all of this year but I think I hear the clock ticking.AGAIN

Can't even give the 07's away because of all the bad press.

Stuck with the MF.

I had an older Phazer with SRX carbs, DG pipe ,a 133 track, blown shocks and an unlimited supply off loose hardware that left at trail back to the trailer. About the same time - mid 90's my buddy had a Ultra that never spent the week in his garage. I would drop it at the dealer Tuesday morning and pick it up Friday after work. It ended up killing itself on a tree.

Two people in our riding group have/had 05 RMK 900's and definitely the most unreliable sleds on the snow I have seen.

1994 zr580, set of plugs & belt almost every ride out, never did get the bugs out of that machine. still ride cats though, cat dealer made it right , gave me the purchase price back on next trade.

Bad sled

Mine was a 1997 583 Summit. If you didnt park it perfectly level it would take a small army and new spark plugs to get it started. Rode it 1 winter and sold it.

98 Ski-Doo 670X by far the worst sled I have ever owened. First year for the DPM which gave me nothing but fits and I'm just not a fan of the old rotary valve system.
