Pro Rmk big bores?

You haven't had ANY problems with the 858?????? Zero failures????? No returns because of not being happy with the product???? How many of these kits are on the snow now??

Kelsey I personally have not run any of your products other than your heads so I'm just repeating what I have been told. The first 858 kit that made it to Alaska ran like a turd and it was removed from the machine and I believe sent back to you. Now I'm not pointing fingers but if I'm correct that would make the above statement a LIE! The thread on this subject should be available on this forum still if anybody cares to search for it. Only reason I posted this is because I want everyone to know the truth before they purchase a product.
Feel free to delete this post as I'm sure you (they) will.

Hostile
You have been misinformed.. I thnk many have in your area..

The 1st 858 in AK was a PROTOTYPE 858 sent up under the agreement that that it was for data collection.. It was not and is NOT the same as the PRODUCTION 858 kits that are out there... Again.. "Prototype kit" used for testing at low alts..

However it did run very well and never seized .. But at the end it did show some signs of a problem... The kit was NEVER returned to me for inspection

Here are the threads that show how well it ran.

Concerning those with questions about low elevation testing- We are in the process of clutching and tuning the 858. The kit is a great runner. It does make MUCH more power than a stocker. It makes quite a bit more than my previous setup which was dialed to the T. We need to get more miles on it before we discuss many specifics but I will say that Kelsey has a very nicely designed kit going on here and it will be a great option on bang-for-the-buck.

Ok so before I get into any of the details, let me just say I put 2 short rides in on the sled tuning the fueling, and at the end of the 2nd ride, I blew a rod bearing on my mag side with 2500 miles on the sled. So, couple days later and with a fresh piston on the mag side (bearing chunks scraped up the piston but the cylinder held up GREAT) I've had 2 more rides on it and have been getting the clutching dialed in and spec'd for 0-2k, 2k-4k elevations. It's close right now but I had a belt issue that I dealt with today and the next 2 rides should be all I need to have it dialed in tight.

With that said-

The 858 makes considerably more power than the stock 800 Pro motor. It gives the Pro the top end power and snap that is lacking in stock form, and you can feel the motor revving much quicker throughout the rev range. The sled is very fun to bounce in and out of deep, snow loaded holes in our glacial area here, it always comes out building speed instead of chugging like a stock sled can in these deep load conditions. A lot of the guys I've been riding with have been commenting how you can really hear the sled sounding much healthier and pissed off...and my previous setup was a great running combo.

The rings have been seating up and making more compression after each ride and it's pulling harder each time. I will be trying some much steeper initial angles with the Tied this week/weekend to help extract the bottom end power delivered by the added cc's and porting. The sled is pulling more weight and more helix, to a higher RPM, than it ever has before which is great evidence of the gains. I've let a couple guys throw a leg over it and they were all pretty impressed, they might post up here if they have a chance.

I try to be objective about any products out there in the powersports industry. Yes, Kelsey did give me a great deal on the kit and I probably will sell some in the future, but this kit is a real performer so far and I really only have about 3-4 tanks of fuel in it. All time spent tuning fuel and clutching and working out other bugs within the sled. I'll update this thread with some more info as I get more miles on it and really get it dialed in tight. Over the next few weeks I'll let some other local guys get on the sled and post their opinions as well.

So , again, you have been misinformed... and I certainly do not take kindly to being caled a "liar"

There are more posts to that thread, but I'm not going to post a link to it. If anyone is that concerned about it, search for it as I did.

Cheers.

I could be wrong but I thought there was more to that...

Remember there are always more sides to every story than just the one...

Bottom line... the 858 works great Burandt is supporting one this season as are many others... Come ride one for yourself...

Good reply.:face-icon-small-hap

Yeah I know there's always two sides to every story. It's kind of a pet peeve of mine when both sides don't get brought up. Don't get me wrong Kelsey i know you make some great products. I have a bunch of buddies on M8s running your heads, DD clutch kit, and they haven't had a single complaint.

Well, thanks for that.

Ya, not sure why this particular "story" is so far out of whack in the AK area..

It is very unfortunate to have so much incorrect information floating about..

I get the calls (always from AK) and have to hear a new "twist" to the story...

Too bad really...

I think people really get too caught up in the whole 3rd hand info and he said-she said thing these days..

At the end of the day.. if something is REALLY not working, you will find multiple instances of it...Bad news always travels faster than good news...and even then you have to sift thru the falsities...

When the research is done.. the reality can usually be found...

No Kelsey the fact is your products might work down in the lower 48 but for some reason they don't work in alaska????? Just face the facts and realize there is no such thing as a 100% reliable engine even if you put "custom pistons and patented head design" on them! And we never hear about how long it takes to get the kit "dialed" either??? I'm done Kelsey you have my word this is the last time I will post on any of your threads but I stand by my statement of calling you a liar because you are sir.

Just wondering if there is any company out there with a big bore kit that offers a cylinder exchange program ?
