Pi$$ed ... who should I go after?

On the Polaris goggle bag, look inside the bag, there is about 3/4 " of exposed bolt that could possibly damage goggles..Put a vacuum line plug on it just in case.

I did not have good luck with the Aviators, i'm on my third set of lenses, first one scratched really easy, second one started leaking between the lenses, leading to massive fog, third one I just put on.

The foam has started to fall apart, they are basically ruined.

That said, I also have some Sinisters which are holding up great, the polarized lenses are awesome, and my wife has a pair of Sinisters as well which she really likes. So I think 509 is good just maybe not the Aviators

I like the "look in the mirror" comments. You guys are funny.

The dude put his goggles in a bag designed to protect the lens and the lens gets scratched. How the F is that his fault. It's a snowmobile not a car, things are going to get jarred around every time you ride. If a company can't produce a lens that can take some minor abuse for the sport they are designed for or a bag capable of protecting the lens they should be held responsible for replacing them. Especially for the price they charge for aviators.

Here are my spare lenses that I keep with me that I bought in December. Never even used them and over half the chrome is rubbed off deeming them useless as the two shades of yellow drives you nuts looking through them.
I did contact 509 through email and they are reviewing my warranty claim

Saw a guy on the mtn do that. He was pissed about his new goggles. Swore up and down they were junk and threw them in the snow. His buddy walked over and took a look peeled that film off and everyone else was LOL.

The dude turned RED!! He was pissed at himself...and REALLY embarrassed.

So, uh, after two season's with my 509 Sinister's thinking they're only ok, clarity wise, for supposedly premium goggles...I'm wiping a smudge off the inside of the lens and the film ripples under the cloth...

The DOH! moment

Feeling pretty dumb as I peel off the INNER LENS FILM and like magic the goggles are C R Y S T A L clear.

FYI 509's have film of both side of the lens.

Did you get a response, or have you contacted 509 yet? Thanks for the pictures, it for sure looks like something was in direct contact with the lenses or that the lenses were face down rubbing on something. That could have happened with the bag on them though given enough miles or enough bouncing around, either way we are sure they will try and make it right still. Let us know the outcome, and as always we are willing to help out as well if you contact us direct.

To the people defending what goggles should and should not be able to take for abuse. Really take a step back and look at all the scenarios, hundreds of thousands of different ways we can, and usually do misuse goggles.

It could just as easily be argued to the consumer saying that they should be able to handle what they are built for, to reference that they are built to be on your helmet, on your head. The bag is a soft bag that is meant for cleaning and soft storage, if you do store them for periods of time that they could see prolonged abused you should put them in a hard case like 509 sells for the ultimate protection, at least this would be a good idea.

Think about the paint on your car, whether it be a brand new 13k Dollar Kia, or a 200k Dollar Bentley. Take a microfiber rag, a rag that is meant to be used on the nicest of materials for cleaning, if you sit there and rub it in the same spot for a prolonged period of time, you will see a noticeably different shine. It will now be dull in that spot with less luster than the rest of the paint.

It is near impossible for the MFG's in todays day and age to think of every scenario that could happen with these. And as soon as they do and try and detail them out or list them so the customer knows how to handle the product, somebody else figures out a new way to ruin them haha.

Here is a perfect example, how many of you with 509 goggles know that you are absolutely NOT supposed to use anything to clean the lenses? No chemicals, no anti-fog's, no alcohol, no nothing. Just the cleaning bag supplied and water. It also states that these goggles need to be stored with the lens face up to prevent wear on the lens. It says it in black and white in the usage sheets that are in each and every box....

So really, try and be realistic with what we expect out of our products these days, I think most people can honestly agree that 90% of the time we expect too much our of gear because we relate dollars to how long they should last. And each and every one of us works hard for those dollars.

Hope this helps eliminate any further issues with customers, or at least informs people of the correct ways to handle this product if you have not taken the time to read the instructions. And as always feel free to PM us or give us a call for any other questions or concerns. 800.615.5249

With almost a hundred posts, I didn't read them all. But I can say the 509's with the mirror, yellow, or whatever color the coating comes off in spots and it they are "deeming them useless".

What I have been doing is getting my mothers aluminum polish taking the lens out and just buffing all the coating off. They work just like new but not as "Cool".

You forgot to mention the under hood bag will have temps exceeding 90 degrees... and humidity as well.

Keep goggles as cold and dry as possible, that's my moto. Excellent customer support offering to go help random stranger on internet who probably didnt even purchase from you. Thanks Blown Motor!!!

509

Call 509 and see what they can do. I have had nothing but great luck dealing with them. Bought Aviator's at HayDays two years ago and want polarized lenses but they didn't have in stock. They offered to ship them for free if I bought them that day which I did. Few months later when I got the polarized lens I was have trouble changing them and damaged two of the tabs that hold the lens in place. After talking with Tom at 509 he told me to ship them the goggles they would repair tabs and change the lens at no charge and pick up the return shipping.

This year I bought a new C2 Carbon Fiber helmet and X5 Sinister polarized black ops goggles. One of the screens that covers the side vent on the helmet pulled out and torn causing the vent to pack full of snow. Same deal again emailed them told them what happen they sent me a UPS label to return it to them, they fixed the vent on both sides (metal screen instead of fabric) and shipped it back no charge only took them 2 days to repair it.

By far the best helmet and goggles I've used. The goggles real shine when paired with a 509 Helmet. Fit and comfort is great and no fogging issue at all.

Do yourself a favor and toss the chrome lens and get polarized. Chrome lenses may look cool but that's about all they are good for.

odds are you put the goggles in the under hood bag lens down....idc if you wrapped the goggles in dead puppys if they are lens down with no frame to protect the lens the will rub and possibly scratch. and the Polaris bag has heat foil on bottom side of the bag with metal grommets to let moisture drip out of the bag. so is it 509s fault...um NO. is it Polaris's fault?.....um NO! **** happens when you don't take the time to make sure everything is situated how it should be. you actually don't want your goggles in the under hood bag with the protective bag on them...the under hood bag theory is for fogged/frozen goggles that need to be thawed out and when you double bag them there is no way the warm air can move over them and dry them out. if you have to buy a set of replacement lens then chalk it up as a lesson learned in life and quit looking for someone to blame Obama!

and fwiw the posts about how 509s fit or fog or etc are pointless, everyones face is different, everyones helmet fits different, maybe 509s don't fit in your helmet like a comparable brand does. Ive had years where I have bought 5-6 pairs of goggles trying to find a perfect pair. For years I ran HJC helmet with Spy goggles. Got a new HJC that was different style and Spys sucked so I tried a few goggles and Scotts were the best so I bought Scotts every year until I got my current Fly carbon helmet and wasn't happy with the air gaps so I tried my buddys 509 sinisters and they sealed up perfect, so now ill stick with those until I have reason to switch. Also no matter what goggle brand ive had I always run a single clear lens. Only fogging ive ever had was between the dual pane layers and I cant stand riding with tinted or mirrored or colored lens unless its blinding sun then I have an old pair of scotts I carry that will get me by.
