Pi$$ed ... who should I go after?

Forgot to mention that I wear a 509 helmet also

I agree with "look in the mirror", especially with a mirrored finished goggle. Can you imagine the bouncing those things went through while hanging in an under-hood storage bag? A polite call to Tom at 509 or your local 509 dealer would have been the polite action to take, not the "who do I sue" entitlement mentality. Sad for sure!

I have two sets of sinisters. The ones with the chrome lens scratched all up the first time I wiped them with my glove. Guess your supposed to ride with them all iced up. The other set I had in a bag in the underhood warmer. I stuffed a set of gloves in there too and the heat distorted them so bad they wouldn't seal to my face, and were crooked. Make sure they are sitting nice and flat in the bag I guess. I had a set of SPY goggles with a chrome lense and rode with them for 3 years without issue. Definately better qualitys out there.

I have 2 pair of 509's sinisters and one is always in my under hood bag in my pro. After 2 years both are still in great shape. One pair does have a scratch on the lense but that's from a tree branch and I was just happy they didn't shatter from how hard the hit was.

I do also keep an extra pair of gloves in the under hood bag at the same time. Maybe this is the key to keep them from bouncing around and damaging them.

No fogging issues but just like with every pair of goggles they need to fit your face and helmet your using and you have to keep your breath OUT. Some kind of fitment is always needed. Eric

I keep my scotts in the pro bag` there always nice & dry`don't know if there scratched or not` can't see nothing anyway` just wear them to keep the snow out`

Lens suck on my 509 goggles and the lens cracked the first time I put them on. Before you all lecture me on goggle use, a $$ pair of goggles should be as durable as the cheap $29 goggles I got at Sams Club and have lasted me for a while!

Not worth the money buying them IMO, expensive to purchase and easy to break because they are cheap. Spend your money elsewhere.

Post was not about suing anyone nor did I bash any product supplier / vendor! I was / am pissed that the goggles were scratched when stored in an oem supplied storage bag that was placed in a purpose mounted holder designed (marketed) for storage of goggles / gloves. Never mentioned "suing" but wanted to find out it would be better to deal through 509 or Poo.

If I had known / been advised that these goggles were as "delicate" I would have returned them for a cheaper or more robust pair.
My brother & nephews have 509's and while I know that they along with all other brands can and will scratch, I would not reasonably expect that the lens could / would be damaged while, IMHO, properly stored.

Per the helpful posters I will send 509 a copy of the pics and see what if anything they can do.

I gave my 509's away to a buddy this year as the were the worst fogging goggles I own. Plus they don't fit through the front opening of my HJC helmet worth a ****. I bought some SPY and Oakley's and they are head and shoulders better. I laughed my *** off when we were out and my buddy was cussing out the 509's for fogging all day. To each their own but way too much hype around the 509 goggle's compared to how they perform. I will simply not purchase 509 products again.

really it is par for the course, with mirror coated plastic lenses. sooner or later the coatings will wear off, wether you handle them rough, or easy. it is a thin coating that WILL rub off.

the goggles i put in my under hood bag are stored so if there is a contact point, it isnt on the lens itself.

spy goggles for the win! Ski

I think what people are trying to say is that you should not "go after" anybody. People feel too entitled these days.

Chalk this one up as lesson learned....either buy another pair of "tougher" goggles or get rid of your junk goggle bag.

Quit looking for someone to blame and pick up the tab....Sheet happens, deal with it!

You wanted to know who to go after....That's weak! You should have contacted 509 or a 509 vendor first to see what they could do for you. Maybe it was a defect, maybe it was improper handling on your part. Did your 509 storage bag say it was designed to be thrown in an underhood bag and beat down a trail without damaging the lenses? I didn't think so. Stop trying to blame someone else, you damaged them.

Time to move on.

notice how the pro series goggles dont come with chrome lenses?

I had a new set of 509s, rained, used a cloth and a spray bottle with isopropyl in it to clean the goggles, removed and scratched the chrome right off the lens, lens it self was fine.

Went to the store, got an orange no chrome lens. wore for a week and cleaned with goggle bag and isopropyl and lens is still flawless.

their chrome coating is garbage.

I'd say it depends on how long they were in the goggle bag and where that bag is in relation to the engine. Plastic can't be expected to withstand extended heat.

Hmmm, I've had good luck with my 509 goggles. Have noticed the chrome scratches fairly easy but I regulary wipe water spots off with the supplied bag and lenses still look fine. Also the only time they fog is if I leave them on while trying to dig out a sled. My buddies with other brands are constantly b******* about fogged goggles. Maybe they're hit and miss on the quality. I know the second set I bought one spring and never got around to using them until the following winter and on the first ride snow dust was getting between the two lenses. A quick email and some pics sent to 509 and within a week a new set of lenses was at the door free of charge.

Im sure that if you were to write 509 and very calmly explain your story this would all be handled. No need to "Go After" anyone until after you've presented your case, then they tell you to pound sand. ;)

If they are a good company they will probably be more than happy to work with you on resolving the case promptly and to your satisfaction. If not, then its not a company worth supporting and that is a post worth writing ;)

what surprises me is all this over a 20 dollar lens WOW. how about get real for a minute

New pair of 509 goggles as a christmas gift - unwrapped and placed them in the soft 509 storage bag and put them in a new under hood bag in a pro. Went to use them yesterday for the first time (they have never been worn) and discovered that the lens was destroyed!

So .... is the Polaris bag to blame or is the 509 storage bag to blame? Who should I go after?

Forgive me if I missed it, but how many miles are we talking?
