Pi$$ed ... who should I go after?

Feel free to send us pictures of the issue as well, it will always be something that is required when dealing with an issue like this. Destroyed means a million different things to a million different people. Maybe the goggles came out of the 509 bag, maybe the protective coating is still on the lenses etc....a ton of scenarios here. BTW we see people 25% of the time that call with lens issues that have not taken the protective film off, yes seems like an obvious thing to do, but you would be surprised. We would like to see the damage, the bag, and we can help you out from there. If you cannot get a hold of 509, feel free to shoot us an email and we can try and expedite this for you.

I'd be willing to put money on the fact that this is the case....

Kinda embarrassing to admit but I did that this season with a pair of 509's. Pulled them out of the box and thought wth, took them back to the dealer, showed him and he smiled and pulled the protective wrap off and handed them back. :face-icon-small-blu

Saw a guy on the mtn do that. He was pissed about his new goggles. Swore up and down they were junk and threw them in the snow. His buddy walked over and took a look peeled that film off and everyone else was LOL.

The dude turned RED!! He was pissed at himself...and REALLY embarrassed.

New pair of 509 goggles as a christmas gift - unwrapped and placed them in the soft 509 storage bag and put them in a new under hood bag in a pro. Went to use them yesterday for the first time (they have never been worn) and discovered that the lens was destroyed!

So .... is the Polaris bag to blame or is the 509 storage bag to blame? Who should I go after?

Destroyed as in scratched or melted?

Thanks for all the helpful feedback. Pictures are now posted.

As for the post about looking in the mirror - had I left the goggles in for a minute, an hour, or a month they should not be scratched - my bet is that most people don't stop every five minutes to check on the items that are stored in OEM storage bags. Maybe you are omnipotent or clairvoyant and can tell the exact moment when the damage occurred - I certainly can't.

As stated, the goggles had never been worn. Protective films had been removed and the strap was folded over on the inside prior to placing them in the storage bag provided by 509. Drawstring was pulled taught and the bag was put in the Polaris under hood storage bag (properly installed per manufacturer's directions) - nothing else was put in with it! Goggles were still secure in the 509 bag when I stopped to take them out.
There are no scratches on the lens other than where the coating is rubbed off.
Short of being cracked, however, the finish on the lens is destroyed.

I am pi$$ed - not lawsuit gun toting trigger happy pissed - but am curious if anyone had a similar issue and if so did they go direct to 509, the vendor, or poo accessories dealer? New replacement lens is fine - not out to bash either oem - just that I would not have expected / anticipated this type of damage to something properly stored.

Klim goggles in pro bag and no protective bag. It didn't seem to dry them out with the bag on

I know this does no good this time but for next time, I put my goggles in the bag they come with and then I put that in a Crown Royal bag. I keep them in the glove box on my XM. Saves the goggles and gives me an excuse to drink more Crown. Win Win!!!! :face-icon-small-win

Why must you feel you have to tell all the secrets. I could have gotten a good pair off ebay for $0.99. OOPS, white frame???? The wife couldn't use them.
Man up and take care of your stuff. There is no frame to protect the lens. The new ones will do the same thing next week.

509 are junk never seen a product with so much hype perform so badly. Ive also never seen so many google issues with so many different people as the 509. Get a pair of ZEAL youll never have to worry about your goggles ruining your ride.

Ohh and another thing they'll be happy to replace your lense just like they did my buddy. But the first time you go to clean them the chrome will scratch and rub off. Have I mentioned what complete junk 509 are.

Obama,,,

I've also seen the coating come off a pair of new 509 sinisters. So far mine have held up but only had them for one season. They do seem to fog easy though. Can't say I'm overly impressed with them.

My wife was super thoughtful two years ago, bought me some 509's for christmas. Three rides later they looked worse than my two year old goggles, common name brand I have used for years. My dealer traded me out for three sets of my old standbys. (price equivalent)

509's are the highest priced and junkiest goggles I've ever owned.

Yes they likely will but if that's the case then 509 should supply a better bag! There were two layers of material covering the lens which should be sufficient given that the bag doesn't show any wear or damage as one would expect if there was sufficient friction to damage the lens.

I have been wearing 509s for the last 3 year's... Aviator and sinister both with fan and polarized lenses and rose and never had a scratch issue and only fogged up twice when it was - 28 outside lol .... I will always buy 509!!
