They are asking for what?$10.00 or $20.00? For the amount of info you can get off here thats cheap!! We partake in a very expensive sport but will not spend money on keeping our areas open or a good site like this with a incredible amount of info to be had. Ya prob spend at least $100 each time out snowmobiling,$10 is not gonna put you in the poor house to keep this place going...
All good points but will all the great people and info remain if SW becomes a pay site?
I see the value now in entertainment and tech info but if you loose the majority of the users what do you have?

I feel the tech guys are going to pay and stay. The ones that just want to play, may go play for free elsewhere. Atleast I hope that is how it will end up being. Like was said already, I won't like have to pay, but if $10 a year is going to break me, I will need to put my sled on the swapmeet here first before saying goodbye to snowest.
I dont think I have heard of any forum going after their users for money "YET", if you have the people behind you the sponser's will pay.
I not saying I will not pay it.....but America is sold on advertising but now if you want quality TV you pay to watch commericals. Didnt use to be that way, we paid for no commercial movies. Now we pay for both, yes there is live feeds but they suck.....
Now we gonna pay for a internet connection then pay to use a site thats soley driven by its users.....that will advertise???? have you look at your cable bill lately
now my internet habits are gonna be right there NOTHING and they will lose majorty of its sponsor's
Slowest but if you give me your money I will speed it up

Yep with everyone bailing on Snowest and moving elsewhere to other FREE site's, Those site's servers will puke out and slow down eventually causing those users of those site's to b@#?& tch and moan because of the site's being to slow, forcing those site's to invest in faster more improved equipment and thus forcing those site's to ask thier users to PAY UP! It will eventually happen...... no doubt.

I don't think it's a big deal.....I don't expect something for nothing and the value more than outweighs the price they are asking.

Not to be argumentive, but wasn't the site here BEFORE any of the users?? Someone went to the trouble of establishing this site. The site grew and changed. As with anything else there has to be a way to pay for it or it doesn't happen. I don't think anyone is doing this to get rich or take advantage of anyone. If that was their plan they would have charged from the beginning. JMHO

It's pretty sad that we have been using this site for years and getting a ton of info and selling lots of parts and some want to *itch. I know in the long run...people will change there mind. Like others have posted...we are in a sport that is pretty spendy. So what is another $10.00 or so a year. I know I will be here. PB
I also will pay for one year and see what happens..... I have used this site for eight years and it has helped me alot...Thanks SW
