by our neighbors dog...our dog is, was`a boston terrier...there dog is a german shep. There dog charged across the county road and graped our dog 15 # and shook it till it broke its back. They wont put there dog down. I think that sence our dog wasnt on there property there dog had no reason to attack our dog much less kill it.:brokenheart:Mont has a dangerous dog law ... he has no choice but to kennel it or put it down. The only reason I didnt shoot the shep on ther porch was they have a 6 year old daughter and I didnt think she should have to suffer the same truama my wife endered...what a peice of sh!t they are.....thanks rant over, Dino

Walk over to their fron yard when the kid is at school and shoot it!!! Maybe one day your kid will piss it off and over it comes again!!

Yep, stronger than me. Couple yrs back had to shoot local dog for chasing my horses for 2 seasons. Finally had enough of the warning shots and took it out, after the smoke cleared I appologized to the 3 children and the parents, and things worked out OK. Hope things work out well for ya.

don't take this the wrong way, I just want to play devils advocate for a second (two sides to every story, remember?):

did you watch the events unfold from beginning to end? Are you 100% sure the other dog was unprovoked? What is your reasoning for saying it is a dangerous dog? I have GSP's, and they've been in more than one fight with other dogs, but I don't consider them, or the other dogs dangerous because of it.

if it attacked your kid, no questions asked...but your dog........

its the owners responsibility to keep his dog at bay, tied up or fenced yard. Its irresponsible of them to allow their dog to get free and run loose.
its not the dogs fault, the owners have obviously not put the time needed into the dog.

The animals always take the brunt of their owners stupidity or neglect.
step one would be to offer the owners the right to wack their own dog (have the vet put it down) If and when they tell you to pound sand, thats when you call the local SPCA. they usually handle that stuff well.

when you start talking liability to the shep owner that usually gets their attention.

sorry about your pooch. shi tty deal.

My wife was walking our collie/golden cross the other day with our 2yr old daughter in the wagon. Dog's on a pinch collar and retractable leash right beside my wife. Neighbors german comes tearing down the road and charges right at my dog. My wife is freakin thinking its gonna be a fight within 5 ft of the wagon that my kid is in. Dogs are nose to nose, kinda growlin but no fight. Owner comes walking calm as can be dwon the road and grabs his dog and just walks away. No apology or even an acknowledgement he didnt keep his dog at bay.

Wife is freakin, daughter is crying and he just ***s off with his dog as if nothing happened. heard through another neighbor he got his little dog chewed on by the same dog when he got loose one day as well.

Part of being an animal owner is making tough decisions and when you allow your dog to get loose like that knowing how it will respond to other animals you have to look at yourself in the mirror.

Animal rant over.

File civil suit against them and call their insurance company and notify them that you are filing a lawsuit against their insured and begin you want to file a claim against them. The grounds of which are based on the the result of your loss was due to the Contributory Negligence of the owners of that animal to properly protect the public from a breed of dog that is known to be dangerous. (akita, chow, rotweiler etc joins these ranks). The fact that their animal was the trespasser helps nail your case and also the breed of the other dog. And if the Dog is say a trained police dog, attack dog well then it falls under Absolute Liability. Which means no matter what the owner is liable. The average dog bite claim 2 years ago was about $65k with the company I wrote business with. Document everything you can to keep record and expenses to the dog, your families reaction (pain and suffering) etc. If they want to keep that German Shepard, make them pay more on their homeowners insurance next year and jump through the hoops their insurance company will make them do if stay with them or the next insurance company will make them do when they see that claim. You'll see that dog on lockdown or gone real quick. The insurance compnay will try and settle with you real quick. Don't take the first offer and stand firm (sound pizzed) as if you are going to take it to court but you'll consider their offer and ask that they call you back in 2 weeks after you discuss the incident with an attorney if a course of action is needed. Understand most companies will only what to compensate or replace your loss. The court will reward you for your inconvenience, time, attrny fees etc. When they call you have an estimate done up costs to replace the dog, what your time is worth etc. And flat remind them of what some of things a court will compensate them for and flat ask them what they are willing to offer to prevent you from going further with it. Adjusters will either cave or they will attempt to call your bluff. Which in that case, contact a civil attorney and line them up. Might not want to rile up the neighbors but why should you be the one that gets run over and no respect. With any luck they'll move within a year.

I dunno, it is a dog. Nothing against your wife or you. Now if you had little kids and it was their pup, differnt story. Still if your not gonna shoot the thing, might I suggest some hamburger and anit-freeze on the front step. Course it would be alot more humane to just shoot the thing.

to many people get to attached to their dogs. (like my wife) its just a animal and thats it instincts. yes it should have been leashed or fenced. but where do you live. country or city or suburb. is your dog always fenced or leashed. if it got your dog, then yours was free too. yes it was on your propery, so you should of shot it then. to late now. but if a dog is smaller then a football, its not a dog (lol)j/k sorry to hear it died. other family fess up and pay the bill and offer to replace it. tell them to or you will report it and down goes pouch. if not move on. sorry sounds mean, but life goes on.

put two or three alleve in a meatball. it'll get rid of it's headache.

i wouldn't take the chance if you have kids around. it's only a dog.

Anyone who would own a German shepard, Rottweiller, Pittbull, Doberman etc. Should be shot along with the worthless sons a *****es they call dogs. Those type of dogs have absolutly no purpose in this world, end of story!

have owned two of them and your wrong. best dog ive ever owned. have had german short haired pointer, black lab, yellow lab, collie lab mix, husky, and chow lab mix. mixed pit and rott is what i have now. have a 1 year old that pulls the ears all day, tail, feet, you name it, it pulls it. smartest dog yet. get along with 10 lb to 150 lb dogs, never a problem. in my opinion little dogs are the worst. bark and bit you like crazy, till you kick the rat. training is the key. like saying all of a race of humans is wrong too. you could train a lab to kill too. why do police use these dogs, not thier size because of other dogs have that size. because they are hands down very smart animals. easy to train too. dog never goes past the sidewalk, ever. will not eat a steak out of anyones hand but mine, wifes, and kid. (yes ive tried it.) read about a pitbull, came from england and were known as best house dogs ever. fights give them a bad name. what is your purpose in this world. your job will go on without you, wife(if you have one) will move on and remarry. kids will forget you. so whats your purpose???? end of story!!!!!

I say put a bowl of tanted meat in your yard and if he comes over and eats it o well I gess they should have kept it in there yard.
People need to be responsible for there pets, you have a yard, keep them in it.
If you don't and some one shoots it, or runs it over when it leavs your yard then I gess, you should have had it under control.
Just my thoughts.

I would shot the dog in front of the kids. I have had enough of the p-whipped hand hold in this country if you want to teach your children how to take responsibliity for themselve and their property/ animals show them how dont just cover there ears and prentend every thing is going to be OK ! Sorry to hear about you dog! seroiusly I would tell the negihbor to take care of it or you will !

One of the worst feelings I have ever felt was shooting my neighbors dogs. They had a habit of comming down the river bottom and put the run on a pen of heifers I had. Needless to say, after a couple calls to the neightbor, because I had seen their dogs down there, it didnt stop. Fixing fence, and putting down heifers because they have broken legs or are to tore up sucks. Needless to say, I caught them one morning. 2 died in the hay meadow, 1 made it back and died on the front step. I stand by what I did was right, but I still felt horrible, especially as my neighbor had small children and they was the kids dogs. I gave them a red heeler pup out of my brother in laws litter he had. And i told those kids, first things to teach it besides not to crap on the floor was to keep its butt home. Have not had a problem since.

I know dogs are very territorial. But any dog, even my own, if they dont stay home, well. Lets just say, that pattern either changes or they leave one day and never make it home. Dogs can be replaced, there are more made every day. Children cannot.

But if you go as far as killing a dog, do it the right way, quick. Poison is BS and I would not wish that death upon anybody.
