New thread for elko area riders

Very fun, very careful ride today. The turnaround received only a couple inches of fresh, but Lamoille Lake got hit pretty decent, about 12" I'd guess. It took Powder and I about 10 pokes to pull the chute. There's still not enough snow to ride hard, but it's was fun getting out and riding the hills where I think I have the landmines memorized.:beer;:beer; Some dude must have pounded down a couple few to many last night, he was on the mountain early and it looked as though he was riding in his Pajamas.:D

Anybody have some information about riding around Jarbidge? I've seen that theres some riding there, just not much info. I really like riding off the beaten path type places.

We rode into Jarbidge Sunday from the Wildhorse road. The odo showed 49.1 miles to the gas pump. The gas station was open and has pay at the pump. Also the Red Dog Saloon opened up for us for lunch which was nice. You can ride the road all the way in. There was about 4 ft up to off trail, but still bottomless. Overall it was a great ride though.

Thanks for the info. Whats the riding like? Any mountain type riding? I'm assuming since you did almost 100 miles it was pretty flat fast riding. Any place to spend the night in Jarbidge? Is the gas station always open or did you call ahead? I saw that theres a hotel in the summer, but doesn't look like they're open in the winter. Sorry for all the questions, just looks like cool area/town.

Definently mtn riding... more open though unlike the "chutes" in the canyon. If thats what you want to do, you need to plan to stay at least 2 nights as the ride in and out (plus the drive up) will take a day in itself. There are cabins for rent, couldnt confirm the status of the Hotel these days...

This is some "old" info I scraped up (dont know if its current?):

Outdoor Inn, Jarbidge NV:775-488-2311
Wildhose State Park Ranger (might point in right direction): 775-758-6493
Elko Chamber of Commerce: 775-738-7135

Been a few years since i've been back in there sledding... hope this helps.

Not Bad

Went up to the canyon yesterday and had a good time. The snow is not bad you still have to be on your toes. Lots of land mines out there still, hopefully these storms bring us some snow!!!! Forgot my camera so no new pics. P.S.did anyone pick up a gas can cap? lost mine on the road I think.

DEFINENTLY gotta stay on your toes!... (would be nice if there was enough snow to cover the trees:eek: too);) man its been a rough season so far. Blazer, get those video texts I sent ya'? My opinion: that line up through the trees was swweeeeet!

Got up the canyon today... we can add a couple feet to the snowpack! There was over a foot of fresh from Thomas canyon up and 2-3 fresh up at the lake. Took 3 sleds to beat down a trail. Once it sets up... some of that lower ground above the bathroom will finally be opened up! Most of the rocks are covered now! Sorry, no pics... dead batteries. And as of 9:00pm tonight doppler is showing a big one right over us from Battle Mtn to the Rubies north to Jacks! Tommarrow should be an AWESOME POWDER day! Bring your LONGTRACKS and your BUDDIES! (i'll be sleepin'... YEAH! nightshifts).
