What do you guys wear? I want one that the back is pretty wide and that there is a place for the shovel and handle on the outside. And i want a pretty good amount of space in the inside for all my junk.
Any ideas?

Dakine is the way to go!

I have used the DaKine products for 10 years easy, first for snowboarding and now with the transition to Sleds. I don't know how much crap that you bring with ya but for me their Heli Pro pack, has been standard issue for me.

Whatever you go with, an internal hydration system( camelback ) is a must, it saves the space of not having to pack a bottle as well the bladder for it can conform to whatever shape that space provides.

As for the durability, the pack that I'm using now, I've used for three years, for two of those working as a backcountry sled guide in Whistler riding 5 to 6 days a week!
Oh and one other thing, DaKine gives a Lifetime Warranty!! Which they will exchange no questions asked( as long as ya kept the receipt ).

I got an abs freeride and love it but my dads got a TNA gear pack and it fits real well. They came out with a new one this year that is on the front page of dootalk.com It has held up pretty well for him and the new one has a shovel holder on the outside where the older ones were in a zip up pouch.

I am really thinkin a dakine pack because i really like how wide they are and how durable the zippers are. Just not sure on the heli pro, heli pro 20L, or the heli pro DLX 16L.

Yes i would really like to get an ABS pack sometime but it just ain't happening this year!

I also kinda like the Demon on rockymountainsnowmobile.com

Agreed, I have had my Heli Pro for about 7 years now and havent had any problems.

Hey, that way you don't have to have so much storage that way. Isnt that the way you do it now with all your other stuff?:p:D:rolleyes:

30 litre Snowpulse. Love mine, tons of room for shovel and all my gear and the added bonus of floating on top of the avalanche:D:D.

I use the Dakine Chute pack, big enough, durable, and comfortable.

Another vote for a well made but not "so trendy it's expensive" pack that carries everything you can throw at it.
I've had mine for two, going on three seasons too.
It's comfortable and it fits well.

Another vote here for HMK backpack. It also has water bottle holder on side of the backpack along shovel handle and probe. Alot of storage. I bought it last year and love it!

Jayson~if you want the wide backpack with shovel on the side, you might want to consider because if you go through trees, it would be good chance for the shovel handle to pop out if get hit by tree branches. Suggest to get a backpack that is smaller than your back. It would be less chance for it to pop out of your backpack.
