Which av pack bca or klim

I missed out on a Klim bag at $1000 on marketplace. Only other one I could find is $1150 plus shipping. After reading a bunch of reviews by @Timbre and @christopher I started looking harder at the BCA. Ended up finding it on Up North Sports on sale for $1199, then I called another website to price match to save me the sales tax. Just placed my order a couple minutes ago.

Looking forward to checking it out since I can't find any good video review or really any interior pictures of it online.

Thanks for your help guys!

Nice! You will like it :)

I just bought the Klim Atlas avy bag this fall during Black Friday at a dealer. After getting it home and charging it up, the air bag compartment zipper blew a tooth on the first pull and will not close. Klim warranty has it now and we’ll see but as with other Klim purchases in the recent years, their quality isn’t quite what it used to be, nor is their customer service.

If I had to buy one again today, I’d get the new BCA bag for the same money.

@christopher @Timbre or anyone else with the bca vest…

Where are you mounting the radio? I see the radio pocket inside but I am not finding a way to route the cord to the strap. What am I missing???
I run the radio in the pocket below the pocket for the mic and I run the wire between the zippers. Our group all can hear well enough to close the zipper on the mic pocket so no snow/ice builds up in there.

You’re talking one of the pockets on the front? That’s where you put the radio?

I should have clarified I’m running a bca 2.0 in my original post.

Yep I run the mic on my left shoulder and the radio in the pocket directly below that. Both pockets are fully zipped and the wire runs between. I’ve done that for 5 years without issue.

Which best (BCA E2 vs Atlas 14) has better impact protection? It was suggested earlier in this thread that the BCA has better protection. Is that accurate?

I've never been around the Klim vest but I ran the BCA last year and was really impressed with it. Took a couple minor hits and was glad to have the front protection. Plus, IMO, the vest feels so much better than a backpack.

Not sure if Klim has removable side panels like the BCA does, but that came in handy in March when we were riding in mid 40* temps.

In the main rear compartment where BCA intended it.

I must be an idiot because I don't remember seeing the pocket down there next to the Alpride unit (on the new E2 vest, not the old one in the video). There was one there on my Klim Aspect 16. I couldn't even find an opening from the bag into the shoulder straps. I'm going to have to get it out soon and take another look to see if I missed it. lol

Going to be running Oxbow this year so won't need it anyways, but I'll check out of curiosity.

So it turns out, I am an idiot. No idea how I missed this strap down here. I guess I was looking for a mesh pocket similar to how my Klim bag was. I also figured out where the cord would run from there up into the shoulder strap pockets. 🙄

Hopefully this helps someone who is having a dumb moment and prevents them from posting for everyone to see how dumb they are! 😂

The Klim is very small and doesn’t offer much coverage for protection. Not even sure its designed to protect you even though it it padded and kinda ridged. Its just a chest piece. Think they make it that way to keep the pack from shifting as much. It does stay put pretty darn well and is comfortable to wear.

Edit: my bad, I was referencing my aspect 16. Didn’t realize they made a vest and got confused on names.
