This is s painful to watch, no one will buy them, they would have to be paid to take cat. Just think like a business would , you inherit millions in warranty claims and they are coming. now think about that, you never made a cent off the original atv or sled sale. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. The new buyer would have to have deep pockets like textron did. Plus all the talent has moved on. There is no winner here. I truly feel sorry for anyone who bought a late to the game sled, I wonder what happens to the patens after cat folds can they legally be copied then, or does textron retain the rights after they shut down cat facilities in may followed by the auction. Please stop giving false hope for something that is not going to happen

I'm not giving false hope. I just don’t think the world is coming to an end like you do. Do you have one or have ridden one? A little doubtful on that. So what if a couple have blown up. It's not an epidemic. You only hear the bad stuff.
Why do you care about the patents? Junk anyway.
 
Are these 858 motors ticking time bombs? I can’t even remember did we get one or two year warranty on spring checks? I know every brand has issues but I can honestly say I have little faith in this new motor. Hate to say that but it’s what I feel.

Matt had valve issues and blew one motor on his. His riding buddy Hugo just blew his second motor, it grenaded. If you have instascam it’s posted on his stories.

Just seems like you are seeing too many blown motors. Also the uncertainty about cat’s future is making this worse….ugh!!!! 🤬
We need to know what the root cause of failure is, until then we wont know if they are ticking time bombs. Mine runs great and i am not worried about it. The C-Tec 800's were blowing up too when they first came out and they turned out to be a good engine. The rescue guy where we ride has 40 recoveries so far this year. 4 Cats one was a Catalyst for sure and 2 were older Ascenders not sure on the other one. 25 Doo, 8 Polaris and 3 bikes. Lots of newer Doo's my buddies 24 was one with a failed ECM. My point is they are no worse than anything else so far. The BC interior where Matt rides is famous for blown Cat engines. I believe the fuel is the cause and always bring my own from my trusted source. This is how Doo got the Etec. Evinrude went broke with failed engines and Doo bought them and the direct injection technology. The engine failures were due to sulfur in the fuel and Evinrude used silver in the crank bearings and so did (Cat) Suzuki at the time. Not sure if they still do but this could very likely be the cause. The sulfur is left behind from the crude oil being pump through the same pipeline as the gas. They are supposed to run a cleaner but it didn't always happen in the past.
