Matryx boost fuel pump

I used another fuel strainer I had it was the same size as the stock one.

Yes I separated the return and supply.

If Polaris is reading this thread seeing if this fixes all the problems out there with the fuel pump and saving the company a **** ton of $$. I'm sure Uzeste would be thrilled with a free 23 RMK 850 Boost of his choosing. And if he doesn't want it I would be more than happy to put it in my garage and let him ride it on weekends...scouts honor! :)
 
Pull off the sock and cut the end open and pull out the collapsed plastic tube that polaris used to keep the sock from collapsing and replace it with a steel spring and zip tie the end of the sock back up and go ride !!! This is a fix for this issue.

That is a solid idea, I could see this fixing the root cause of the problems.
 
Doo could pay him more to coast on the poo fix and ride the doo. If they're watching. Ransom done backwards. Or a dutch auction between the two.

We need fresh pow.

Did it reduce or eliminate the whine sound of the pump?
 
We had two RMK apart yesterday. What we found was the fuel sock in the black box is the main pickup for the fuel pump and it was hard and deformed like it was heated to much. The one at the back of the tank looked much better and we switched them. The wine in the pump went away. We are doing a test ride today. My guess is the fuel sock is melting some and restricting fuel flow to the pump and being in the black box it is getting hotter then the one in the back of the tank because of the black box.

Let us know how it goes! Tore mine apart and found the sock in the reservoir looked "dirtier" that the one in the back. The one in the back was somewhat flat. The sock in the reservoir is half smashed anyways because there is a barb on the lid of the reservoir to hold the back down so it gathers fuel better, just guessing. I got the code on the last ride but then rode for another hour and a 12 mile trail ride out and no code. Pump is noisy at idle all the time now. Dealer checked the technical bulletin items and they all looked good, they put a hose clamp to keep the reservoir feed line from backing out, but i dont believe that is the problem. The dealer also didnt line up the pump with the arrow on the tank. I was worried about the lack of feedback on cutting the sock open to insert a spring, so i wrapped three zip ties around the back sock to hold it open better and built a small stand to hold it off the bottom of the tank. Also put some insulation under the tank. I feel the sock in the reservoir plays a part in the fuel shortage to the pump, but the whole system could be to blame. I hope that my fuel pump makes it to the end of the season. 300 miles. The axys system did not have a jet pump, just a much bigger sock. After my little changes, the pump still whines at idle in the shop, i think the damage to the fuel pump is irreversible now.

Does anyone know what the black wire that goes from the reservoir, to the fuel regulator (which its stripped to bare wire at the regulator), to the jet pump is for? Is it a tether in case one of these components becomes loose in the tank?
 
Incredible that Polaris doesn’t have a fix yet if the cause truly is this obvious
Just an educated guess, but even if they have came up with a fix, getting parts for that fix in a timely manner right now would be a miracle. I was hoping vohk would find a solution and share it with us, but maybe Polaris wont allow them for liability reasons. I called Alpine and was told to take to the dealer to have the technical bulletin items checked.
 
As shown in the videos above. (Muskoka Freerider). In the first video (Broken Polaris). He had whining pump, codes, and limp mode. In the next video (BC Backcountry). He did the Chrisco mod and it seems to have fixed it. No whining, codes or limp mode. If I had the problem it is certainly a mod I would try.
 
It's clear from the bulletin Poo is throwing darts with a blindfold on, or doesn't want to admit the real issue, which requires parts or a fix they can't deliver this season to thousands of units.

For everyone who is still waiting on SC, it's one more reason to cancel the 22 - you're going to have the issue, just a matter of when. Or if you cancel, the dealer is stuck with sleds that are going to fail, and peeps with some knowledge are not gonna bite. If they keep quiet, dealers can then flip the cancelled sled at full MSRP. Or higher.
 
It takes like an hour, we did 2 sleds. both filters have springs, second one is inside the black box. Both sleds had very loud pumps before the mod, quite after. Will find out if they get a low fuel pressure code still.
