My sled had a fuel pump whine yesterday. It was low on fuel and I lawn darted it of a cliff, it landed upside down and then started whining.
So the problem is obviously that the pickup doesn't follow the fuel in the tank. So any time the sled is upside down the pickup is possibly sucking air, and the fuel pumps do not like to run dry
agree as does my dealer, so very curious to see your temp experiment results. Dealer ran bulletin last week on mine and everything was to spec and they said Polaris is still telling everyone it is from air getting in system that needs to clear (so just keep running it).The “hot fuel” theory seems like a stretch to me. Especially considering every brand has run the heat exchangers under the tanks for years and never seen a problem. Secondly, sleds today also run much cooler engine temps. The older axys ran consistently in 130-140 and the new sleds around 110degrees off trail. Kinda of blows me away too that no one has bothered to directly check the fuel temperature at full tank in the morning and 1/2 tank in the afternoon. It would be very easy to do. I just don’t see the fuel getting anywhere close to the 200 degrees it takes to “boil”, as others have blamed this problem on. Some mentioned when the pump started to whine the put “cold fuel” in and it went away. My guess is that any temp fuel would have done the same thing. I just got the first 40 miles on my matryx yesterday. Pump started a very slight whine toward end of the day. Next time I go out I’m definitely measuring my fuel temps throughout the day. Maybe I’ll prove myself wrong. Fun experiment though.

Mine threw code P0196 (Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor "pressure too low - moderately severe) again yesterday, 30 miles in at about 55-60% tank when it was running a bit warmer. Did a big snowboard shuttle lap on other sleds and let it sit for an hour. It was cold cold when I fired it back up and I had full power/no codes ripping 10+ miles back to truck
Unfortunately I think problem will persist until Polaris releases fully revamped fuel pump...
Have any feed back on how this worked for you? Looking to do the same as can't get a fuel pump. Did you just use the 21 pump and connect it to the current fuel suction tube assembly? Thanks! We repined a 2021 pump with a Molex Mx150 4pin.
The manual has the pin orientation wrong if anyone try’s this. Check your tank harness for orientation.
Going to see how it works next week.
The ‘21 has a 4bar installed from the factory.
You will lose the fuel gauge.
There may be a short track version that would work with a float system.
Spill the Beans what did you hear lolI heard rumor that the ones that show up later this week won't whine
Got my khaos boost out for a ride... Fuel pump wine started around 12-15 miles into the day... No codes, just the wine.
Got any photos of this minor surgery, parts list? diameter or hose etc?My NA Matryx sled pump was wining and I couldn't go over 6500RPM without going into limp of low fuel Pressure. I disconnected my pump suction from the black box in the fuel tank and ran a separate suction line. Sled is now running with full power and no more pump wine. If you look at a Axys fuel system this is basically how it is setup. At least I can ride now waiting on Polaris for a fix.
Did you use a new stock matryx strainer or ? Thx for the infoI didn't take any pictures. I disconnected the stock fuel line right at the inlet of the pump and added about 12" of 3/8 fuel line and a new suction strainer. Everything is still in the tank and the level indicator is still working. This is a picture of the Axys system. Basically have it setup the same way.
