Matryx boost fuel pump

If Polaris has been testing this sled for several years already as they claim and the test sleds they had out to the public in the spring how did they not have a fuel issue then? Who make the pumps on the test sleds? Same supplier? There has to be a disconnect somewhere? They just seem to over complicate their designs. Stick to what’s worked in the past. Design your fuel tank so a float gauge works or make the white tank where you could see your fuel level. And a $1000 fuel pump, get real!!!!!!

Well if you look at the “test” sleds they where Axys models that were retrofitted with it. Completely different setup on cooling, fuel pickup and tank . So probably didn’t see the cavitation issue with heat and the new fuel pickups. So back to the drawing board .

Make sure you align the pump correctly in the fuel tank when putting it back together. There is a small arrow on the tank and it needs to sit between to marks on the pump bulkhead.
I see the arrow on the tank. But not sure I see the marks?
Thanks

With the costs of these pumps where the in the world is the bean counters at on this item? They sell every other part out.

These marks, arrow should fall between them. Mine was slightly off as seen.

I was just going to post same pic of lineup marks. I did add more with magic marker. I did find the screw cap was rough on the flat service that contacts pump cap . Smooth out with fine sand paper and a little grease on cap but. This made it easier to tighten with out turn pump cap.

Mine started doing it today. 250 miles. Got loud enough my buddies that were 10-20 feet away could hear it at idle. Exciting times. N/A 850 slash

AMS said just run it until it throws a code. Nice waiting on that. Hopefully nothing runs super lean in the meantime.

Didn’t Polaris have a year to sort this **** on the trail sleds?

Mine started whining real bad two weekends ago but no code, AMS told me the same. Yesterday I got the low fuel pressure code and had to limp 20+ miles back to truck. First decent mileage day without loads of snow in warmer temps so not surprised. rode from buff to the top of the ears, had a beer and snack, and just as I started heading back I did a hill climb and it went into limp mode. Was very very happy I made it back and didn't need to tow out. Dropping at Dealer tomorrow, will see if everything checks out from the bulletin, plan on doing the Thermo-Tec pad either way. Fixed the belt slipping in deep snow, on to the next one!

I’m cleaning the tunnel good and sticking it there . I think ether way will work though.

Going with this here . The adhesive side says it’s fine to around 300 degrees so it should be ok .

I'm thinking on the bottom on gas tank would be best. Better heat protection ?

Yeah I was thinking that too . My only worry if it gets condensation built up will it fall off? Also it’s kinda a bit misleading but if you watch the video on there site it says only difference is it’s sticky on one side .

Frequently running your vehicle on a low gas tank is extremely bad for your fuel pump and fuel system components. On many vehicles, approximately 10-15 times the amount of fuel your fuel pump sends towards your engine gets sent back to your fuel tank. This helps cool down your fuel components and the fuel in your gas tank. By running on a low gas tank, the fuel in the gas tank heats up a lot quicker causing the fuel pump to overheat or even worse, run dry. Avoid leaving your gas tank low whenever possible. This is very crucial during the first few weeks after a new fuel pump install. A new fuel pump should be installed into a a minimum of half a tank full of gas.

A typical gear rotor fuel pump is made up of approximately 200 components. After several years of use, these parts can eventually wear out causing the fuel pump to fail.

This was an exact copy and paste from walbro's website. Looks like running them out of fuel is a
Bad Idea.
