Matryx boost fuel pump

Planning on doing the spring in fuel sock mod tonight, anyone have any feedback. I'm seeing some FB posts saying perfect fix, whine gone, no more codes and others saying problem still persists after another long day with lower fuel levels.

Putting it through the hole is a good idea. Will it be as effective since the spring size would be smaller than cutting it open?

Frustrated with the variety of answers on this mod too. Most guys saying it worked, or they don't provide any feedback. I saw a guy selling a boost on Facebook and said VOHK put springs in the socks to fix the whine. He was supposed to be working closely with Polaris on this issue. Maybe the guys not having luck with this mod have fatigued their pump to such poor condition this mod doesn't help without a new pump? I'm thinking my pump is very fatigued and have doubts a spring will be a temporary fix to get me by. Holley hydramat might be my next step. Getting one to fit properly in the reservoir might be the challenge. The little prong on the lid of the reservoir seems like a poor design to me, but I understand their intent to hold the sock down in the fuel.

Here’s some pics of my friends that we put the springs in. We used stainless steel wire to basically sew the socks back together. Still a low pump wine noise but it seems to not be getting worse. No codes so far but we did this mod before it got bad. He used 1/2 inch by 5 inch springs.

The fuel pump strainer/sock
Is the fuel filter for the pump,
Cutting it or removing it will defeat its purpose, find a replacement strainer/sock that will work and you’ll never have to worry again.
TRS is on the right path

This would be overkill ^^
Napa sells strainers for $20
Just have to look through their stock to find a good fit

Mine started making noise at about 25 miles on a hard snow day, engine temps around 140-150, air temp about 50ish. Made the noise for about 45 minutes of run time back to truck. Took out pump, no issues that I could see with regulator, ring, connections or anything else mentioned on the web. Sock was pinched down under pick-up. Removed sock and installed a spring that just fit into the outlet tube opening, then safety wired thru the sock to keep spring directly under pick-up. Didn't touch the reservoir. Lined fuel tank bottom with Cool-It heat shield then laid some thin foil backed hood liner in the cutout of the tunnel over the exchanger. Had some laying around so I used it. Used spacers under fuel tank mounting ears so they remained flat. Took it out one ride since on a even firmer day than the 1st with air temp 40-50. Engine was running a bit warmer on the trail up hitting 165 occasionally but the pump stayed silent for the 20 miles that day. No heavy throttle or long pulls that day so not sure if this is a fix or not, but promising.

The whole magic of the hydramat is that it won't suck air. If any part of a normal sock is exposed you get air in the system, while the hydramat can be 90% exposed to air and still only flow fuel.

Looks like a sock used on a rzr. How do you plan to secure it to the pickup line?

Tony what symptoms are you having or heard of? Did the spring not work for you?

I’m going to try a different filter for the purpose of “did the bean counters opt for a cheap sock”.
Yep, it’s from an assortment of GM products.
I have a delphi coming in the morning as well.
It snaps in place same as the stock one, but only has one locating port.

Tony, I would love to hear your review on the Boost!!
My bet is he thinks the same as i do. The pro boost feels heavy when not on the gas or in deeper snow. I let a buddy ride my kaos boost and he has the pro boost. When he came back he thought it was a completely different sled. He said it just rides so light and easy. My other buddy likes his as long as he doesn't ride mine.
On a side note, our 2 have whine since day one. Only thing different was we filled out of their bulk tank after first day and they never whine d again the next 4 days. They were from low to full. First days gas was from home at gas station and both whined after an hour. No idea.
