Lost Lake

My wife, another couple and I would like to check out Seward and Turnigan this weekend, the weather looks clear for Friday and Sat. Any one got any tips on where to go.

You can access the Lost lake area thru the Primrose campground at the end of Kenai Lake, just south of the Snow River Bridge, approx mi 18 of the Seward Hwy. It can be a long bumpy ride on the sled. Also access at approx mi 4 of the Seward Hwy adjacent to the Bear Creek Fire Station. It is a shorter trail but can be much more exciting due to chutes. You can also get there via Snug Harbors Rd in Copper Landing. It is a longer sled ride to the lake and the road (Snug Harbor) is only maintained part way, with the remainder maintained by Chugach Electric. The road can be very icy and parking is tight for large trailers. There is alos excellent riding on the Resurrection Trail system and Cooper Lake if you access Snug Harbor Rd and decide not go all the way thru to Lost Lake.

rode snung harbor today and it was pretty wind blown snow was fair

tomorrow gonna try for grand view

We tried grandview yesterday. Lack of snow, alders, and the rocky minefield kept us from even getting close. You cant even make it up to squirrel flats from the side by the glacier because there is so little snow and so many rocks.

If you find a way i would like to know because i bet its incredible up there.

Saturday at Lost Lake was a blast!!! Blue Bird all day ~ not the epic powder that we would like to have had. But considering the wind they have had down south - the snow was actually not too bad. Found some good pockets in the lower ravines and valleys. Rode in Primrose (as bumpy as ever) and cruised over to the Fire house side to overlook Seward from the cabin.

No broken Revs this time ;) just a couple stuck pics

My son and I were at the lake as well. We didn't see 12 sleds all afteroon. There were only 3 vehicles in the Fire House side parking lot, plus a couple of us locals that rode from home. Plenty of powder and drifts to play in if you looked for it. It was much more pleasant with the sun in the ravines then up on the tops with the wind blowing.

L L

Got a call from a buddy that just came down from LL chest deep@ the lake and whitout. After playing at the lake for 3+ hrs their tracks wher gone on the way back down.:D:D Hope it clears up for us in the morning:D:D:D

Just got back from fiermans. fullout blizzard up there but had a greatime riding in the trees and valleys. About 2' new and still dumping hard. Maybe 3' depends on where you are at. The wind is screaming out in the open. 0 visibilty in the open. It's going to be awesome when it finally quits but it showing no sign of letting up as of 2hrs ago.:)

All I can say - is that this was THE BEST WORST DAY EVER!!!!!!!!!! Total Blizzard and whiteout conditions... good deep pow to the left of the playground - it will be amazing once the storm passes. The visibility was so bad on the way out that ya couldn't see two feet in front of your face. I can't wait to go back!!

First post on snowest. I am going up to Petesville on wed and thur, hows the snow conditions now? Also trying to fill mon and tue at lost lake but need somebody to ride with, anybody going and dont mind a tag along?

any news on LL

just wondering if any of you guys or buddies of yours rode LL today. Going tomorrow, some buddies are going in Primrose but I hate that trail. Still better than lugging sleds up the firehouse trail if it is bad. Has anyone been in Snug Harbor? Some insight would be greatly apprieciated.

You couldn't pay me enough to go up via snug right now with these avy conditions. The trip through v-max canyon would be suicide until those walls come down. That said, I'm sure there was people thru there today and will be tommorrow as well. I'll be headed up firemans in the morning.
BE smart and be safe guys
Tim
