Will be at the firemans trailhead this morning in a black Dodge dually with a sleddeck. Blue/black Polaris and a red 800 Dragon. Welcome to tag along if anyone likes. Leaving Soldotna around 830am. Doug 398-6982

Epic Day!

Rode lost lake yesterday and it was the best ride all year. I guess anytime you get the chance to ride in just a hoody, no gloves, no goggles, and chest deep snow in february shouldnt be considered to be anything less than epic. Oh, it was 35 degrees and sunny... weather forecasters missed that one by a mile!!

broken leg

Lost Lake was lots of deep deep powder. 1 had to be hauled on a Life Flite with a broken leg this afternoon. Much powder to be tracked up yet.
LL was sick 2 days of sun-deep snow-and lots of fun:D:D every thing was going good until 2 buddies ramed in2 each other:( anyway chopper came and got buddy Nick (broken leg) akpolaris u r not the only one i feel your pain get well soon:)

I was not clear in my message; one (1) was hurt, not me. I am fine! Did see the helicopter pass and land. Great riding at Lost Lake. Come on more snow to fill in the tracks

went in primrose yesturday the trail was bumpy but not to icy. Perfect Blue Bird Day!! hope no one missed out. Snow was great. Hopefully the nice weather keeps up.

Trail conditions

Anyone gone in on Fireman's trail lately? I have the Dale Clemens cabin rented for this weekend and will he hauling stuff in after noon (check-in) on Friday. I usually go into LL via Primrose. I've been on Fireman's only once before. Wondering about icey trail conditions, etc.

Sounds like it was pretty good this weekend. I went with the weatherman's forecast and hit P-ville (good snow and sunny!) but not 3 feet deep :(

Any info about Fireman's trail would be helpful. I will have my wife and 5 year old son so I want to be as prepared as possible.

Trail wasn't bad at all on Sunday, started getting bumpy, but no ice to have to worry about. Trail can change alot in a week though if it continues to get traffic.

Only because you are hauling a child will I confess that the trail is in good condition.
I do not think that the switchback trail has any tracks on it yet. I suggest that you run up the trail for a scouting trip before hauling the family just so that nobody is suprised by the conditions.
Have fun. It is snowing a little today in Seward so that means it is snowing more up there

Thanks for the info. I was actually planning on a scouting ride in on Friday before bringing the whole family in. Mainly because I've only been on the trail once. I'll do my best to have everything up to the cabin before whoever is there starts coming back down the trail :)

Everything between Firemans and Primrose is more tracked up than I have ever seen it! That was insane. Snow was great while it lasted though. If you keep looking there are areas that haven't been touched, but you have to venture out alittle. BTW Double L, this was my weekend on the WRONG end of that rope. I toasted my motor, broke the skirts off of my pto piston, but then again at 4000 miles I guess I was pushing my luck! It went at full throttle 8200rpm so it broke the skirts off the bottom of the cylinder too. I knew I should have started this year with fresh pistons but tried to get one more season out of it before soing so.
Also, the Forest Service was cruseing the parking lot and wrote no registration tickets til he emptied his book! Be warned.
