Yes, I found one solitary billy. Where did you see the goats?

Head up Mineral Fork in Big Cottonwood. I have yet to take a trip up there without seeing a ton of billys... they run rampant up there!

My buddy is headed to King's Peak starting yesterday for a Scout 50 Miler. They rode the horses in 2 weeks ago and King's still has big snow on it so they won't be climbing to the top of it this week.

But with these friggin' sizzling temps the snow will finish melting quick.

Near Iron Mine Mountain. We actually saw 2 goats. One was bedded down and we got within 75 yrds and I was able to get within 25 yrds of the one pictured above. Pretty incredible animals.

Is that Iron Mine mountain just off the mirror lake highway, just northeast of the soapstone road? If so, that is in my area to hunt.

Do you think a nine year old can handle this hike?

It would probably depend on the 9 year old and the parent. There is no trail to the top and it is a lot of bouldering up a very steep slope. There is a couple of spots that are a very steep scramble up some loose terrain. I personally think Bald mtn would be a better hike for a 9 year old. Bald mtn has a trail and is about 2 miles and just over 1000 vert. Very cool mtn. You can see it in the center of the third original picture I took.

Here are a few pics of the route up. The one in the middle is the worst part and is much steeper than it looks from the pic.

I know you didn't need my fuel on this adventure but did you remember to take water and food. LMAO:p
I'm really surprised you ventured that far from the Lodge on your own and made it back. Atta Boy.........................;):beer;

Still not seeing any Goats.:mad:

Taking a few shots at me eh? Must be retribution for the pink panties joke. LOL.:D Next time you'll have to come with me, I could use some help packing the spotting scope and tripod. Plus I could use a little company.....just leave the pink panties at home.:eek:

Seriously though, if your up for it, I'll be headed out about once a week or so if you want to join me on one or two. Awesome country, but you already know that.
