Copper bowls on sat 30th of jan

any new snow they had gotten had all blown away to where i whish i new. we went up to the bowls and you could not see a thing, and not cause it was snowing,it was from the wind blowing. The snow is hard and you can go anywhere, like get yourself in trouble anywhere. Down on the trail was not to bad but like black said there were a ton of sleds around and not much powder to be found need more snow hope and pray. But still way better than sitting at home

i was up there to. got stuck some snow can be found but most is hard

I couldn't believe that damn near every hill up there slid. Main bowl is a sight to behold.....no late Spring riding this year.
At least we don't have to worry about those pesky trees off to the left any more.

We went to the bowls, like everybody above has said. Hard snow. The first main bowl to the right slid weeks ago, not much snow on it. All the way to the right has not slid, but the snow was very hard, like spring hero snow, go anywhere. Visibility sucked.

We did find some good snow, where nobody had been in a few secret spots.

i think they need to put a wind break around the upper snotel site so it will quit drifting in around the site so it will stop giving us fake numbers

and skogen there were no good areas left wink wink (REMBER) LOL we dont want to lose the few good reaming spots

went up yesterday and that Main Bowl is a sight to see...
never before has this happened, at least 30-80 feet deep of runout!
we met with masterpate, disco and johnsodo for a bluebird day.
look at this mound of snow and it went over the hill and took out sizeable trees.

How safe is it to be climbing the hills that haven't slid yet ?

Ask spud I haven't been in the bowls this year because every time I try and go in someone says something else slid. Last weekend I talked to the people at the Forrest Service and they say the layers are really unstable. I'm not familiar with that stuff so don't know what that means.

its prolly LOW on an avy scale or even moderate but.....
they still freaked us out just because of other sleeping giants that didn't slide. pretty much hard stuff with a lil dusting of new is all.

Spud the Forrest Service people that were there said they dug snow holes and the layers were weak whatever that means. We will not go in there this weekend as we have the ladies with us and some of the sleds are older.

We checked the snow first as always. Would never touch a hill unless I absolutely thought it was safe.
