Copper Creek Bowls

I was wondering if anyone knows if the road has snow still? Last year it was plowed up to the bridge. And does anyone know if there is still a barbecue on May 9? Thanks

Check the threads in General. BBQ on the 9th.

There is a request for someone to check the snow.

ATV riding in Lincoln

I have been coming to Lincoln to sled for the last 10 years or so with my dad and brother. This summer my wife and kids and I want to take a trip through Montana and would like to spend a few days in town. The question I have is what are the restrictions on riding ATV's on some of the same logging trails that we sled? Thanks in advance.

ATV access to the roads you were most likely on, will be slim to none! Sucker creek and copper creek roads are open but most secondary roads north of highway 200 are a no go. Bever creek is another one that should be fine. The land up there is, believe it or not, mostly Bacus (sp) and Seiban (sp) land. Some sort of a fight with the forest service and recreationalists and tearing up the roads in early spring is what I have been told is reason for the land owners to close it down to wheeled vehicles year round. Not exactly sure though, just know most roads are gated. Hope this helps.

The problem with that is coming out of some of the areas I ride, I ride up behind a locked gate. It's happened on more than one occasion. They need to get a little better about where the trails lead.

JROD-I'm not sure i understand your last post? Are you rideing ATVs behind the gates or are you talking about snowmobiling (over but leagely) behind gates? The roads dont need to be marked well, they all have gates across them and are private roads that the land owner was letting the public use.

What I meant by that is I'll go cruising up some legitimate trail and go for 15 miles or so and then where I pop out is behind a locked gate. They are not all marked and this has happened on more than one occasion. Maybe I just know the area too well. It happened to me when I went riding up Stemple and came out behind a locked gate in Sauerkraut. Not cool.

You must have a good knowledge of the area, not many people know about the trail of which you speak. I must say that is a very cool trip. I havent made it in a few years, but I dont remember any locked gate, it must be a new one. I guess I was refering to the north side of 200 when talking about ATVs and where you could and couldnt ride just for the simple reason that thats is where most of the trail ridding (snowmobiling) would be done and I just assumed this is where the question of what is open to ATVs was pointed. Maybe we will run into one another on the trail sometime.
