cabindwlr and I and a few others will be heading out today, we are going over to martins mountain to mark some trails for the dog sleds and keep it packed down. on sunday when we were there the snow was deep and sticky in spots. there was a bit of rain mixed in with the snow so will see how it set up. post later with pics and conditions. the past two days we have had some pretty crazy wind and snow so am sure there are going to be some huge drifts and fun spots. :)

I am not sure where the upper snotel site is. The lower one is right off the road. If you get to snowbank lake you have passed it.

Rode with mtbronco and his folks yesterday. Trails are getting groomed all around Lincoln. Lots more sleds out now and having some fun now. Weather was nice early but turned in to a blizzard before we got back. One of the worst storms I have seen here in a while. Rolled my sled off the trail and took us two hours and come alongs to get it out. Trees kept it from rolling some 40feet down. Don't look back for fellow riders on a corner. LOL Dumb, dumb, dumb.
Snowed most of the night, snowing now and have another 2 inches at my place. Groomed trails should be all full of snow again.

we went out yesterday, ran up sucker creek and then over martins mountain till we hit a slight snag, one sled was stuck pretty good, taking a few hours to get it out. the snow was again deep and fluffy and drifting insanely. the rain last weekend did settle of the snow and we are beginning to get some base and playing is awesome. its around 9 am on new years day and it snowing again but hey no wind right now.....

Yes It Is!!

People around town are talking about the winter of 96. The last big snow time in Lincoln. Snow is deep and keeps coming. In town places have over 2 feet of snow and I have not seen that in years. Yesterday we had another 7 or 8 inches down low. Plowing snow is the new Lincoln sport!!
Poker run today so should be interesting to see how that is going.
I heard several guys got to the top of Stonewall and found the new communications shed roof had blown off. This building is at 8,300 feet and exposed but made of concrete. Roof is not concrete but WOW. Forest Service told me they had some guys riding up there yesterday to check it out. Wind must have topped over 100 mph to do that. It is a steady 30 to 50 mph there in the winter when I have been there. Rarely calm.
When this weather pattern tames down, we will be living large in Lincoln as far as riding goes. LOL

Snow still falling!!

Rode 60 miles today and had a great day!! Went East from Lincoln around Martin's and to the top of Huckleberry and back. Powder everywhere and would have been great except the trails are all moguls. Way better around Martin's Mountain due to new powder. Groomer is planning to do do Martin's Wednesday and Huckleberry on Thursday. Groomer headed to Dalton Mountain today. That area has to be a wreck. Nobody I know has gone there yet. About 4 to 12 inches of new snow on the trails today. Forgot the camera but wouldn't have mattered due to snowfall and blowing. Not much visibility at times.

We are thinking of heading that way saturday. Where is the best place to unload? In town somewhere or at the clubhouse?

Snowed all day again. Been here a few days and has not stopped snowing. Neighbor hired a huge loader with a blade to come in and clean his road. Did the rest of us a big favor. I bladed the roads with a small 8n but it is snowing and difficult to keep up with.
Going home to get my sleds tomorrow. Will give a report on the weekend riding. I am guessing 3 ft on the level in town. Don't know about up high but has to be great snow. Once this settles things should be good snow. Peace and quiet tonight.

rockin don't think you can get to the clubhouse. Hoopers Park is a good place I think they have it plowed (haven't been to town). There is snow here.

Ken, I hae a place you can lay your head. Come see for yourself. I am telling you big snow. A leaste at the cabin 2 miles east of town and 1 mile back Hi sign RD. send a pic. But I don't have my sled no justice. If they groomed big mountain I am heading there. There is a pull I want to try with my new sled. Either way you will get pictures Saturdat night. Come ride with us. This

It started raining night before last at about 10 and has not stopped. I am 2 miles east on high sign. I know it rained in Seely also as Fuzz was over there to ride and is coming home today.

I am in Lincoln and it rained off and on all day. Got here to a drizzle but snowing big on the pass. If copper is showing 100 it is probably 125 up there. Let's get a crew together and break trail in. It will be a bugger getting in. I just looked at weather and it is warm all week so that is good low 30 mean nice temps in the bowls. Snow should set up good. Not going in though till they plow and groom some of this mess. At the cabin it is miserable the rain sucks we have standing water every where. Ya gotta love Montana never a dull moment.

A guy at the snowmobile meeting that was going to race his sled dogs up there said that they cancelled because the avalanche danger was so high. He said that the groomer got buried up on Huckleberry and wasn't too excited about going out till the snow sets up some.
