Ken I am in Lincoln at ours friends cabin. My snotel here says -20 and I am looking at the reading it is colder than well you get the picture. Now the wind is starting to blow.

Snowing Again!!!

Warmed up this morning to about 12 degrees and started snowing. Sure hope it continues for days. Peaceful and quiet today. I imagine this weekend will be busy up higher. The groomer is still being repaired and probably will be on the trail on Friday if the parts come in today or tomorrow.

Huckleberry

I just called a dog musher who was up there about 5 days ago and he said a foot at the lake and at least 16 inches at the pass. He is going over that way several times early next week and going over to McCabe and will call me to let me know how it looks. I will be riding Kleinschmidt around the Whitetail on Monday and will know more. Snowed a little today.

More Snow!!

Snowed about 2 inches over night and still snowing and blowing. Called a buddy in Post Falls, ID and he said he got about 3 feet at his place. Snowblowing and shoveling for hours to dig out. Guess I'll move in with him this winter. LOL
It is -6 at 7 this morning and with the wind it is not nice. Looking ahead on the forecast it looks like it will start to warm up Christmas day. Might be a great day to ride.

Huckleberry

Was a little off on Lincoln snow in the last post. Actually, there is more like 4" of new snow down low. I have a total of about 7" at my place. Time to plow out.
Had coffee with a musher this morning who ran a team to Huckleberry with another musher. They had to stop at the top and come back because the snow was too deep. 24" to 30" according to her. No sleds had been up to the top yet as far as she could tell. She saw sled tracks leaving the trail below the lake but otherwise no sign of sledders.

hiline Monday I talked to a couple guys that had been up there. One guy broke a trailing arm on a landmine. They both said one good dump was needed so it sounds like they got it. I just looked at the snotel for the bowls and the censors have not reported since 0600. But not alot of snow up there maybe 3-4 inches.

Not much base if any

According to the lady I talked to she stepped of the dog sled runners and sunk up to above her knees. She was on the road of course and she felt she was touching the dirt or close to it. Some guys may ride it tomorrow so will know more but doubtful one can get off the road without damaging something.

Huckleberry Snow

Over two feet of ungroomed snow on Huckleberry. Too cold for me to ride but the guys said it was great. Groomer was still being worked on yesterday but should be out soon. Snow forecasted for the next 5 days and warming up some. PSW Club hosting a New Year's Poker Run in Lincoln on January 3rd.

riding in Lincoln

Hello all:

I know there isnt enough snow to ride the bowls yet, but what is the other riding like? I would imagine it is still trail and road riding but am just wondering. Also, I have a friend that would need to rent a sled. Is there still a place to rent sleds in Lincoln?

Thanks. everyone have a fun and safe holiday season.

I do believe the sled rental place in Lincoln is no more. Closet place is probably Seeley. Maybe go up there rent a sled and spend a day riding there then either trailer or ride the sleds back to Lincoln.

I think after this weekend you'll be able to go where ever around Lincoln.

Talked to a guy who rode yesterday and the roads have 2 to 3 feet of snow. Cannot get off unless you really know where the mines are. Snowing heavy this morning and 20 degrees.
I have heard rumors that a guy is going to rent Cats in Lincoln but so far it seems to be a rumor. I have not seen sleds at his place. I heard that a rental place in Seeley will trailer sleds to Lincoln for groups. Not sure which one. Seeley Sport Rental or Seeley Recreational Rentals.

Snow is deep but really no good in Lincoln. Bumped a little gravel on the trails going through deep powder. Like dust, little to no off trail base where we rode yesterday. From what I see in the "Riding the Little Belts" posts, riding is much better in the Little Belts. Groomer doing Huckleberry today.

OK guys here is my take on the snow in Lincoln. I arrived here about 2:30 and started plowing the cabin out. But before I did I measured out in the middle of the driveway. 8 inches dead on. That is settled snow since the 17th. Probably double that in the mountains as the cabin is 2 miles east on the Blackfoot. High Sign Rd if you know the area. It was snowing lightly here but has quit now. Didn't bring my sleds as I just came to plow but the next time I am here I will give a full report with pictures probably of me stuck. If I get a chance I will run up to copper parking and give a report on that. I will talk with a couple locals and get their take on the sledding.
