Confused Green Horn

Im a greenhorn when it comes to snow machines. Lets be realistic...The closest I have ever gotten to a snowmobile is looking at a pair as I drive by the Bike Shop. So our family has begun to plan a move to Ancorage Alaska and we will need some machines. Now I have looked at a few different models and have absolutly no clue as what to look for. I could throw a pile of money at the problem and find some fire breathing monster to chase after the firewood at mach 20 but I figured it would be wiser to get some recommendations on what to look for. I have no idea what will be the best for the cold up their.

Provided you are not being facetious, the sled you would own for fun would be different than the sled you would choose as a utilitarian work vehicle.

If you want a snowmobile to haul stuff and pull a sled, then buy a Tundra, if you just want to ride for fun, then buy a sled from the best dealer near your home. Snowmobiles are very unreliable machines, so the dealer will make the difference between how much fun you get to have versus frustration and travel.
