Let's get one thing straight...

Everyone on the west coast of Canada says, "let's go sledding", most people on the east coast of Canada say. "let's go skidooing" no matter what brand of snowmobile they ride.

Ski-Doo certainly did well in their marketing department back in the 70s!

Very true

Even though I find it annoying when people call snowmobiling "ski-dooing" especially when they ride a Cat, I guess it is better than saying let's go "Arctic Cating", Polarising" or "Yamahaing".

Now if it was Poo and they said let's go "Pooing"....that would be funny! :face-icon-small-ton

If you are not "pooing" every day you have real problems! :face-icon-small-sho

Sleds. Around here we get a lot of "Going cattin' up X...." even for guys who ride doos and poos.

Now up in extreme North Alaska (read Inuit villages) they all call them "snogos".

WTF.

I watch a couple "Alaska" shows on Discovery and the "sno-go" thing gets under my skin.

Also, in regards to the villages....it's called a land fill...look into it.

Using your front yard as the dump is much more efficient, no labor costs, no transportation fees, and on rare occasion you get to re-purpose something from your own land fill. :face-icon-small-hap

I get that. But it can't be fun having to step over 2 old washing machines, a leaky gas gan, a half buried parted out 4 wheeler, and 2 weeks worth of dog crap to get in and out of the house. Isn't there back yards?

Do you drink from a water fountain or water bubbler.
Tech name for the snow makers on the first page is a snow cannon.
Have a nice day. :face-icon-small-ton

In the Marines we called a water fountain a scuttlebutt...Navy term.

You're right!

It's called a snowmobile, not a snow machine. End of story.

A snowmobile is something you ride on trails of the flat lands.:face-icon-small-win A snow machine is something you ride in the mountains of gods country! :face-icon-small-hap Hehehehe hehehe

A french woman once asked me to take her home on my "snow-mo-ski".

... I obliged!

I grew up in Minnesota riding Snowmobiles in the 70's, corn field, ditch banging, groomed trails, an occasional hill which was really a river bank, and river valleys were know as mountains. My uncle built Scorpion snowmobiles in Crosby Ironton MN. We got to ride the prototypes, most of which never made it to production, which was pretty cool.

Then I moved to the great white north of Alaska where we ride Snowmachines up the worlds greatest mountains in the most remote locations known to man.

Snowmobiling was fun, Snowmachining is AWESOME! :first:

hmmmmmm, we just say "lets go riding this weekend" everyone seems to know what were talkin bout. potatoes, tomatoes, potatoes, tomatoes.

Snowmachine?

When I was first introduced to snowmobiles in 1968 they called them "snow machines" in Kotzebue AK. Our friends in Montana called them "snow cats".
We have heard "sleds", "biles", "ditch pickle", broke POS, somehow we always knew what you meant!

Snowmachining sounds like it involves a Bridgeport and carbide tooling. Lol
