Its a BIG Mistake...........

Nah, more of what I am referring to on legislating morality, is the backlash to the Janet Jackson Super Bowl. As a result, people like Howard Stern (who I am not a big fan of) get fined for speaking his mind. Or trying to squash abortion because morals, rather than the good of the nation.

Look at the definition of liberal and conservative. Liberal means working for change. Conservative means lets not make change, we have had that for 100 years.

And don't get me started on the trickle down "theory."

Starting to get better discussion, keep em coming!!:beer; (BTW, yes I do wish I was on the snow, but work gets in the way in January)

Great post FAB:beer; Right on the money and RIGHT funny.:beer;

I was goings to up grade my sled this year to an 08--I will wait to see who's elected.

If it is a DEM, I will probably have to put a rag in my gas tank, light it and watch it blow 'cause there will be no where left to ride and no market for a used 04 REV.

Al Gore for Secretary of the Interior? Now there's a horror waiting to happen.

But getting back to our real lives, If I wanted to give more of my hard earned income to higher taxes, have the gov't tell me who my doctor will be, arm my house waiting for the wacked out Muslims to destroy our way of life, relive the high inflation and stagnation days of the Jimmy Carter, drive beer can cars to satisfy the politized cafe standards, have a green tax imposed on me to satisify the Sierra Club, or sell my house and move to a trailer because my real estate taxes will explode, then I would vote for Hillary.

For any college or university student that supports the left, just wait 'till you get real jobs and have to pay the government half you income just to call yourselves Democrats. You won't have any cash left to own a snowmobile or the tailer, or beer can car to tow you tows with.

This is a Fouled Plug for sure:light:

Bob

Yeah, I paid in more that $15,000 in federal last year and about $8,000 in state withholding. I will get some back, but I am not a college student and I have never used a federal program for support, not even WIC.

I do agree that the Democrats are annoying with the land closures, I wish they would quit that shizznit.

Most people don't realize, when the Democrats tried funding the recent child care health bill, they tried closing a loophole on foreign investment used as a tax shelter to fund it. That is only used by people with incomes over $1,000,000. Republicans said that is a tax increase and would kill our economy. I don't have time to look up the link to that information, but it was posted in the last couple months in every major newspaper.

Have not decided yet. I do know one thing, I will not vote for anyone who wants to take money that I worked hard for and redistribute it to a group of people who won't work so that they can have what I have. That is called Communism and it does not work. It will only encourage the producers to be non producers, (kinda like unions). I also will not vote for anyone who wants to keep me, the public out of public lands. And to vote for a woman who did nothing while her husband was stroked by someone else shows no morals and should not be President. And I definatly will not vote for some disrespectful SOB who won't put his hand over his heart and say the pledge of allegiance, we do not need a traitor as President. I guess you all know what party I am going to vote for.

Enjoyed reading your list. Curious about your source.

2001400ex,

Just becuase you read about politics as opposed to talk radio, or the news does not mean that it is not skewed in the direction that you are looking for. We all are more inclined to read, listen to those that agree with us. I personally have never understood the Democratic party. It seems that they have a Socialist agenda. I have extended family that have used governement programs and it frusterates me to no end to see my money spent that way. I may not have as much time as you to read, or listen to politics(I do have a full time job) but that does not mean that I do not keep up on what is going on in the political world. George W. was the best decision for us at this time in history. He may not be the best we have ever had, but he has done a great job with the hand he was dealt. I am tired of hearing how everything is his fault but then those same people give him none of the credit when it is deserved. Maybe if Hillary or Obama would have spent the last couple of years telling us what they would do to make our country better instead of just disrespecting our President, they would have an opportunity to earn my vote. I look at history and what they have done during there time in the Senate instead of what they say they will doing if they become President. I guess for me actions speak louder that words.

ROTFLMAO! Remeber GW and his promise during the 2004 campaign to fix Social security? Nothing has been done, what actions spoke louder than those words?

Read the second paragraph. Republicans only want to help out those that make over $30,000 a year. Do you think the person that makes $10,000 is going to spend that $300 check in the economy? Of course, so why not give it to them too? Extending UE benefits should be there also, that is a lot of what got us out of the 1991 recession.

Keep them coming!

And yes, I have full time job, worked 2,650 hours in 2007. I travel and have a lot of free time in hotels at night. What else is there to do but read about snow and politics?

Without question Mitt Romney is the best person for the job. The economy is critical right now and he is the best man to fix it. And I couldnt care less if he was a mormon of not.

and why do you think Mitt is the right one to fix the economy??? what makes you think the president has any substantial influence on the economy??? do you think it needs to be run like a business??? HAHAHA!!!! I hope you've got a better answer than that... business tactics can't run govt, period. business style tactics can run some small microcosms inside the govt, but it can't scale out to dealing with national defense and etc... don't work, i've been in the govt contracting before, I've seen it first hand, it can't happen... imho, this economic correction needs to take place... the longer we prop up this economy falsely (tax rebates and etc) the harder its going to fall... prepare for a bumpy ride fella's, get rid of your debts (particularly open ended revolving debt) and start investing your money for retirement... worry about your own finances and get your own house in order cuz the govt aint gonna be able to save this one...

Since you are so good at coming up with arcticle and quotes, please let me know how much in taxes the average person pays a year that makes $10,000. Do you really think that we should pay people to live in this country? Let me see here, $8/hr times 2000 hours a year= $16,000. I am just curious, have you checked the approval ratings lately. G.W. is what, about 28-29%? And your Democratic approved Senate is about 17-18% approval. Maybe if they would spend more time coming up with ideas to help our country instead of trying to impeach G.W. our country could get somewhere. By the way if you worked 2650 hours last year, and read about politics 780 hours(your 15 hours a week) that is 3430 hours and since the average person sleeps about 2912 hours a year(8/hr a day). That leaves you 6 1/2 hours a day to do other things. Not a lot of time to snowmobile or anything else. I am just curious when you said that your wife/you make your decisions based on the issues that are important to you. Exactly which issues do Democrates have in common with anybody that uses combustion motors for recreation(including cars)? Al Gore, if you read his book, would like to ban all combustion motors. Just curious.

Do you really think that we should pay people to live in this country? Well of course that person gets back money from earned income credit most likely. The problem is we cannot change that system. This tax check is to stimulate the economy, so give it to everyone.

The Senate/House does not have enough Democrats to get a vote past GW. Check this fact out, ZERO vetoes until this Congress, now he has vetoed several, including the child health care bill.

If I had more time I would have an XP, or at least a Rev. I have gone out 4 times this year. The 15 hours a week is based on 3 hours a night in the hotel room. 8 hours of sleep, yeah right, I have a kid too.
I am just curious when you said that your wife/you make your decisions based on the issues that are important to you. Just curious. Look through all my posts, I said I don't agree with all Democratic values, especially on the environment. Though I don't agree with Republicans that we should let business do anything they want, you know, like dump raw sewage into a lake.

I could go on about my values, but the are definitely about 80% Democratic.

I have to take issue with this one.............

while I'm no GWB fan, he made the right decision on that.... he did not STOP child health care, he just vetoed expanding it to people making $50k per year and up to 25yrs old... how many kids do you know that make $50k??? he was dead right to veto that POS... the press (and you by the sound of it) make it sound like he was denying kids of coverage and nothing could be further from the truth, he vetoed EXPANDING an existing program to people who do not need it to begin with... he did not exercise veto power and remove anything from anybody....

personally, I like having a split power like we currently have... neither side can get anything done, which is GREAT in my eyes... first rule oughta be to first do no harm... with bush vetoing stuff and congress unable to override anything we have a perfect situation in that neither side has the ability to PHUQ things up... beautiful!!!

Post up the FACTS on these points, that is not how I remember the situation.

That is one thing I cannot argue, at least on the fiscal side. History has proven that the budget deficit is the lowest with a split president and congress.

But we do need to fix some things, like SS, as I have mentioned about 15 times. :D

here ya go..... for what its worth, on teh original veto bush had asked for a $5billion increase in funding... the dems put together a bill that had a $35billion increase, THAT is what Bush vetoed

Biden Unveils Health Care Plan

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden on Tuesday released a plan that would provide all children and adults access to health coverage, but stops short of mandating universal coverage.

Biden's plan would also improve coverage for catastrophic illnesses, modernize the health care system and encourage wellness, and would cost an estimated $110 billion, his campaign said.

"Getting this done will require the kind of experience and leadership that comes from years of success corralling bipartisan support for numerous issues," Biden said in a statement provided to The Associated Press. "I have that experience and it will prove invaluable when I am president."

The Delaware senator, who was on a weeklong campaign swing through Iowa, was scheduled to end his trip by unveiling his plan during a news conference in Des Moines on Tuesday afternoon.

Biden said that if he is elected, he would bring together government workers, health care providers, labor leaders and businesses in the first three months of his administration to work on a plan for affordable, universal health care.

To provide health coverage for uninsured children, Biden proposes expanding the State's Children Health Insurance Program, or SCHIP, to at least 300 percent of the poverty level - or about $61,950 for a family of four, and raising the coverage age to at least 21. Families that don't meet the poverty criteria would be able to purchase coverage under the program.

Currently, SCHIP provides government-subsidized health insurance to low-income families, and the vast majority of the 6.6 million participants are children. Last week, the House failed to override President Bush's veto of a bill that would increase spending on the program to $60 billion over five years, double what President Bush has proposed.

Biden's plan also aims to encourage wellness among children by eliminating co-payments for physicals, vision and hearing screenings, dental checkups and vaccinations, no matter their income level.

For adults, Biden wants to allow uninsured Americans to buy-in to a program like the health insurance program that members of Congress and federal employees get. Small businesses would be included in the program, sharing their costs with the government.

To get more people between the ages of 55 and 65 insured, Biden wants to allow them to buy-in to the Medicare plan. He said giving people a chance to get health care and treatment earlier could save on Medicare costs in the long run.

Biden also wants to make sure that families aren't devastated by major health expenses, and proposes what he calls a reinsurance system for such catastrophic costs.

That is not at all what Bush vetoed, that is not even a bill. That article is about what a Congressman wants to propose.

the contents were the same, who do you think was spearheading the SCHIP bill?? and as I said, bush told congress to write up something with a $5billion increase in funding, the dems showed up with $35B...... he wanted to increase funding, the dems just didn't think it was enough to suit their socialized medicine platform...
