I'm Venting.....

i'm a dog owner and do like dogs a lot but with that being said... it's because of a-holes like that guy at the fire i would never go back again. had similar situation where i tried to do the right thing and it blew up in my face with the cops involved. since that day if it ever happens again, after doing everything i can to miss the dog, i won't even tap the brakes.

Dang Nate, what a day. You did the right thing with the dog, and keeping your cool. The owner, well lets just say "Instant @$$hole, just add beer".

Nate:

My heart was pounding as I was reading your story!

Because this guy was such a complete jerk, I would go after him for the deductible to teach this guy a lesson.........

His fault for the dog getting off the leash, and then he has the nerve to get in your face and pull a friggin knife?

Come to think of it, you had better not. This guy is unstable enough to get your home address somehow and come visit you when the Whiskey bottles run out late some night.

I guess it isn't worth it.......

A couple of questions:
1. Were any of the bystanders trying to talk this guy down right before he pulled the knife?
2. How far from your home did this happen?

Stupid dog owner. At least you tried doing the right thing. What kinda holster do you keep the Kimber in?

Ive got a custom Leather holster for it. Really nice holster, I love it

Id recommend getting one for any pistol or shell holder or magazine holder, awesome stuff.

I don't really see why the officer would search your truck. You didn't commit any crime at all. You did nothing wrong. There really was no probable cause as it isn't a crime to have guns.

After he heard the story from the other deputy he thought that was enough probable cause to go through all of my weapons I guess. He asked if I could open my gun cases, told him sure  then after I opened all of them he put me in the back of his squad car and began taking them out of the cases and placing them all over the sidewalk  you dont lay a fawkin $6000 Benchrest rifle on its side on the gravel sidewalk :mad:

No, nobody really said anything. I guess they all stood around and wanted to see some action  they got it

About 9 miles south from my house. He has the address to the gunshop that im always at working and tinkering, but he wont get very far there.

Nate,
Do you know the guy at all? or know any one who does?

It would be interesting to hear how he acts once sobered up & not in a goofy state of mind from the sight of his mangled dog.

He had no right to act as he did. None!
But we all react differently to the loss of a loved one, & alcohol brings out the worst in some.

For peace of mind, it may be worth visiting him & talking about the situation after the dust settles a bit?

Boy I dunno Mafesto.

I don't think I would step foot on his property since he told Nate to get off his property.

I would wait for the other guy to approach.........And not at a bar either (After the fire water gets a chance to sink in again)

this thread has taught me a lesson. if I hit a dog on the highway, I will report it immediately to the local authorities and let them deal with it. The arsehole won't be pulling a knife out on an officer.

Man that is a bum deal Nate....:(

Bet that loving dog owner pissed down both legs when you pulled on him...:D

Did he calm down a little or get defensive when he seen the red dot??

Don't think I could have handled it that well....good for you through out the event! :beer;

Why did the hp lay your weapons on the sidewalk.....did he take pics 4 evidence? Or was he just being a turd burgler showing his authority? He could have just left them in the cases!!!

nate,

if there is any damage to your guns by the dipstick turn in an invoice for repair, my father in-law got them to get both his bucket seats resprung after they knee'd on them digging in the back of his ext cab at a check point, your property is supposed to be handle properly when in their care,
just my .02

He didnt get calm or angry, he just went expresionless. His face turned white, and he just stood there man

I think the officer was just acting on his badge. He was a younger guy, you could tell he was one of those guys that goes home and watches COPS and strokes himself off :face-icon-small-dis

Luckily for him though he got to witness some awesome weaponry  He would never admit it but he held onto my M21 for quite awhile hehe

I respect cops and what they do, but if there gonna play Steven Seagal then there is just no use for them. In order to get respect you have to give it, id just soon see this guy as a pantywaste.

No guns were damaged.

That sucks bro.... you did a good thing. It took some major stones to stand up to an armed drunken punk like that. As for the dog, it's a horrible thing, but it was unavoidable. Good on ya.. Makes me wish we had some kind of similar rights north of the border.

Dude, you FORGOT to tell them you know me! Good job keeping your cool.

Remember, see you the evening of the 25th.

I bet he dropped a nugget in his shorts...:D

LMAO...bad boys bad boys what u gonna do...!!

I was thinking the same thing...hp was drooling on them....:beer; :beer;

Glad to here your weapons ok!! I agree with you on respect....you want it you give it and don't take it for granted.
