THE WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW IS NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 AM MST SUNDAY.

* TIMING...MODERATE TO HEAVY SNOWFALL WILL DEVELOP AGAIN TONIGHT AND CONTINUE THROUGH SATURDAY...SATURDAY NIGHT...AND SUNDAY MORNING.

THERE SHOULD BE A DECEPTIVE LULL IN THE SNOWFALL DURING THE DAY SATURDAY.

* SNOWFALL AMOUNTS...5 TO 12 INCHES ABOVE 6000 FEET...WITH MANY AREAS ABOVE 6500 FEET SEEING BETWEEN 1 AND 2 FEET ALONG THE WYOMING BORDER.

* LOCATIONS INCLUDE...ISLAND PARK...ASHTON HILL...RAYNOLDS PASS...TARGHEE PASS AND STATE HIGHWAYS 22 AND 33 LEADING UP TO TETON PASS.

* OTHER IMPACTS...GUSTY WINDS WILL DEVELOP AND PRODUCE SOME POCKETS OF BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW.

HOWEVER...WET SNOW MAY KEEP THIS FROM BECOMING A WIDESPREAD IMPACT.

THIS TYPE OF SNOW WILL ALSO PRODUCE HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS IN THE BACK COUNTRY AND ALSO TRAVEL ISSUES FOR HIGHER MOUNTAIN PASSES.

They shut down the entire highway because of driftings up on the flats in Island Park!

US 20 in both directions: Road closed.
between 4275 North Road and Targee Pass (3 miles east of the Island Park area). The road is closed. Look out for drifting snow on the roadway. Visibility is reduced. Expect blowing snow.

Comment: Closed from milepost 394 to 406, between Island Park to the Montana line.

We rode all day Friday and pulled out Saturday morning. The road was open and not that bad. There were cars off the road all over I-15, but only a couple on 20. PS it didn't snow up there like it was supposed to and it had been raining before thurs night. It turned to snow just above Ponds and that was about 10:00 pm thurs night. We had to go above 8,500 to find decent snow and it wasn't over the hood anywhere.

Was hoping someone had been up there today.
SnoTel "looks" good.

We plan on riding all day Saturday.
Missed out on last saturday which may have been one of the best days of the entire season.
