How to assess value of '88 turbo Iroc?

well you have a couple thing to consider....

there is some family value, only you can decide what that is worth. if you feel like holding on to it for 30 years it will be worth more then you paid for it.

in my neck of the woods the cars are worth about 2 grand for a nice clean one. they seem to get all kinds of loose body parts with age and rattle/squeek. so tha actual value of the car is not 5g's to the open market. there is a wealth of horsepowr that you can make with the sum of parts you have, and you could make the "Joe Dirt sleeper" real easy. there is nothing worse then getting your doors blown off by a mullet blasting loverboy through the t tops:cool:

so, if you are looking for an investment, its gonna take a ton of years before the car is worth more then 5g's. if you want to keep it in the fam......go get it.

Good clean ones where starting to rise in value before this fall. I am sure they have dropped some now. Seems like the mullet owners of the late 80s where interested in them again. I did have one and also a couple gta's.

Found out it has a ZZ4 350 motor, Edelbrock headers, Crane Cams Rocker Arm set, and Edelbrock Cat Back exaust. I am thinking the 400hp he told me it had was before he put on the Procharger Supercharger, does that sound right? Anyone have any idea what kind of hp this might have? Or what kind of 1/4 mile it might run? Like I said, I don't know much about this stuff, but I plan on having fun learning :D

Car Craft magazine just had an article in this months mag about supercharging the ZZ4 engine. It was pushing 500hp. $5000 seems like a good deal. That engine alone with front accessories comes in right around $5k. Turbo kit is easily that much if its done right and tuned. This wouldn't be your primary vehicle would it? Sounds like a fun summer car.

on a personal note, I think if you let it go you will regret it. Memories fade but it helps if you have something you can keep. and yeah, it looks like it would GET IT ON!!!! Pretty slick intake, I must say!
