HORRIBLE END to a great day and a new sled…

Until I get a new enclosed trailer this summer or next fall I think i will go with a combination of a NEW Superclamp AND a set of Tie Downs

That's what I am doing as well. Got 10,000 lb rated axle straps, buckled across steel and not tie down points. Probably overkill.

Having my sleds hit each other on the back end a few times, then after reading this thread, I realized it wouldn't take much for them to bounce the other way and rip off the deck.

In this case, OVERKILL is both SIMPLE and CHEAP.

Got the initial estimate from the dealer this morning.
Formal one is still being typed up.

$16K to repair the sled and 2 months to get parts and perform the service.

Loads of hidden structural damage from the impact on the highway.:(
Bulkheads are broken, tunnel is twisted.

Much Sadness.

Hope the insurance company opts to just TOTAL THE SLED and let me start over again.

Holy crap, I am thinking that may be a write off. I personally hope it is for you.

Hope you don't miss 2 months of the season.

Wow, that is a pretty big estimate, I was hoping it was mostly cosmetic, but glad to see Rexburg did a thorough estimate, rather it be totaled and replaced than have some random issue later as a result of something not fixed. Hope you get it all worked out in a timely fashion. The current weather is working in your favor right now.

Same
If there is THAT MUCH hidden damage inside the structure than I would just as soon get a new sled as well.

Final Estimate just arrived.
Looks like it SUCKS to be me.
Don't see any way this is going to get totaled.
So instead I lost this sled for the next two months.

Weird comment about the TUNNEL?
Will have to call and see what thats all about.

I could be wrong but the tunnel could push the sled into a write off, Especially with that comment.

Unless that repair bill is approaching the 65% threshold of sleds value, it's most likely getting fixed. Their parts program probably just doesn't have a current part# for the new model and they used a previous model to have it included in the estimate, they'll just revise it when job is done on final bill.

I would also be going for a payment for diminished value. If I was shopping for a sled and found out it had that much repair work done to it, I'm walking away for sure.

If you can work that diminished value payment in, it might be enough to bump it up to totaled. I would also be asking the dealership what their estimated completed time is and see if you can get any compensation from insurance for the extended time (assuming it will take them a couple months).

What about working with the insurance take a payout on the sled then have a frankinsled for cheap for the season and part it out next year some zip ties duck tape and I think you could run it.

Diminished value on a sled? Diminished value for something the insured caused by his own fault? Keep dreaming buddy
