HORRIBLE END to a great day and a new sled…

Christopher, any idea what the repair bill will be? Any structural? Plastics and handle bar?
Not a clue.
Dropped the sled off at RMS friday morning.
They gave it a VERY quick cursory inspection and thought it was mostly "Cosmetic" and there was likely NO deep structural damage.
I hope on Monday they will do a FULL TARE DOWN and really look long and hard.

My own concern is that the time the sled hung on the side of the trailer by the one A-Arm it might have seriously torqued the E-Mod or the S-Mod bulkhead.
And i suspect it will take a well trained eye to determine if that really happened or not.

Also no way to no what downstream damage there was to the steering system when the handlebars first impacted the road and rolled backwards.

I might be optimistic, but it looks cosmetic. Worst case with the bars would be a bent steering post and the top bushings needing replaced as well as the bars. These things seem to be pretty darn resilient for what they are. Then at times they seem to fold like paper in some situations

Right on the money.
I vote for PURELY COSMETIC!!!!

They’re plastic coated and very sturdy. Only as good as where your hook is connected though.

I just installed them. But what the heck, doesn't your ski catch the hook? The removable L Track Triple Stud Fitting. It is in the same line as the ski travel.

At a minimum, looks like it will scratch up the bottom of your ski. Or do you pull the stud out before loading each time?

Narrowest ski stance is 34"
Track is 15/16.
34" - 7in for ski width = 27" between the skis. That gives you a minimum of 5.5-6" between the track and the inner most point of contact on the ski. The keel and wearbar usually keep the ski high enough to clear the mounting hook from touching. Giving you even more room.

Sorry that had to happen. Bummer.

I hadn’t thought about it until now, but with the mtn sleds being narrower and taller than they used to be, it makes sense they would be easier to flip off a trailer.

In addition to the std tie down bars, I will be using a tie down strap to lash the ski spindles of both sleds together on the trailer.

Reminds me of my scare I had hauling sleds on a open 2 place.

Left my place in Northeast, North Dakota at about 10pm, drove South on I29 to Omaha Nebraska and across on interstate 80 to Denver CO non stop running 85-90 the whole way (100gal fuel tank in the box and 50gal on the pickup)

Got into Denver at 5:00 p.m. on a weekday so full blown Rush hour. We're doing the normal come to a complete stop, hammer on it to 90 mph, back to a complete stop all the way through town. Finally go over Loveland pass and stopped in silverthorne to eat and finally check everything over. (1100 mi from home)

Looked at my sled and the tie down bar is next to the track not doing anything. No parking brake set, no other straps.
No clue how long the sled wasn't secured to the trailer but it was a scary discovery.
Picking a sled off the interstate in the middle of rush hour would not be a fun thing to do.
Picture of where I discovered the issue.

Now I stop after 50 MI and check everything, and always strap the front and rear.
Glad I got off easy, just some added paranoia.

Thank you! I measured late last night about ~4" from the contact to the ski. Once I load for the first time, will get a feel for it. And if I need to get glides to help keep the sled skis straight.
