HORRIBLE END to a great day and a new sled…

I’ve heard too many of these stories. My buddies got hit head on on a snowy highway with two sleds up on the deck. Both super clamps failed. No rear tie downs. I go triple tie now. Super clamp, rear super clamp, and my winch line around spindles just in case.

I think that Polaris was upset after getting a whoopin on the hill that it said take this bitch. Or maybe that other sled just didn’t like to share. After further review maybe it is a doo next to i.
"mind bottling" that people tow their stuff without securing the load all the way around. prolly b/c many people have zero experience towing and then buy a sled and off they go.

I suspect next time around I will do BOTH.
Install the Super Clamps AND attach strapts.

It’s easy Worked this long getting too crazy with tie downs takes to long superclamp in the front caller good.

I think a lot of people are in the same situation. Ignorant to proper securement of a load.

Lost two sleds off an open trailer with the older steel SuperClamps. Almost 19 years ago. Still remember it everytime I load up.
Until I get a new enclosed trailer this summer or next fall I think i will go with a combination of a NEW Superclamp AND a set of Tie Downs

As painful as it is to see your buggy being drug behind your National Lampoon's get-up, I wondered how much damage to more panels would have ensued had it totally come loose from the trailer. May be better that it concentrated the damage to fewer parts.
Got the initial estimate from the dealer this morning.
Formal one is still being typed up.
$16K to repair the sled and 2 months to get parts and perform the service.
Loads of hidden structural damage from the impact on the highway.
Bulkheads are broken, tunnel is twisted.
Much Sadness.
Hope the insurance company opts to just TOTAL THE SLED and let me start over again.

Well, with all the dealer inventory, you could get a smoking deal. Otherwise, we'll get to see what's coming for 2025.
buddy hit a rock last january with his 23 turbo expert and the insurance company fixed his sled was $18,900.00 canadian claim for the sled
