HORRIBLE END to a great day and a new sled…

Rather than strapping the tunnel I always go through the rear scissor, making sure that my strap is only pulling on round pipe, no sharp edges.
Much more secure than a tunnel that squats and flexes.
A short board the right height set between rails can also be used to prevent strap cutting.

So I called the guy that made my little trailer and had a chat with him.
He asked why I had failed to tie the spindles together or to starp down the tunnel.
Mentioned to him that strapping the tunnel was a major pain as the sled is longer than the trailer and hangs off the back end.
Offered to extend the trailer to solve the problem.
That alone would have stopped this failure from happening.
So for a short term mid-season solution I might just go that route before getting a whole new trailer next summer built.
Strapping the tunnel often leads to straps on the road.
Suspension cycling causes the strap to come off.
Or u compress the living hell out of the Suspension......

I’ve seen superclamps pop off and strap still on rear as sled walks sideways.
They fail on rough roads.

I think that may be operator error. I think people adjust the clamps so they are easy to operate instead of functionally appropriate! Mine are tight, i use my foot to push down on the center to catch the hook, same to get it off.
I also have a hydraulic deck, the deck is at 45° when loading, need the sleds to stay put. Clamp and strap hold it just fine.

Maybe, but I’ve never used them personally.
Seen plenty of errored operators tho.
Assuming this is an errored operator thread. I never read the whole thing but guessing nothing was on other spindle. That would've alleviated the back not tied down. Sled can't leave trailer if spindles are secure. Guessing summ8rmk is also right on superclamps.
