Hatchers Pass- Palmer side

Yep, Palmer side closed. Pretty bummed out about that one. Especially since they just got a dump.

Wonder why they closed it since they are reporting a 66 inch base? Is this normal to close with that much snow on the ground?

I'm sure there is a bare patch of grass around the parking lot. Thats about all it takes. They do the same thing on the pennisula too. Run 100 yrds of dirt, and then you would be in several feet of snow all day. No can do.....

Didnt know it was closed .... went today ... on our way to Igloo but looking north it was socked in so we sidelined to Hatchers once we got to Willow ... awesome snow, cant believe they closed Palmer side.... why? Snow all over the place ... no real reason at all. We had about 2.5 hrs of good visibility and tore up virgin untracked. Lots of nice cornices and still plenty of deep snow even out in the open.

So for sure, its closed?

If you hear of anyone planing on heading to the Palmer side, please change their mind. Any poaching after it is closed would really hurt sledders right now with the planing phase still going on.
