50 somein religions, and we must pick one…whose right? whose wrong?

I would never walk around and disrespect anyone’s religious beliefs, or make a debate, it’s a topic on conversation best kept in the closet, and nothing good ever comes of these discussions.

For what its worth, I grew up with a mother who thumps the bible with the best of them, she’s now retired and spends every waking moment with the church, would this cause some anger from me against the church and how they brainwashed my mother?…..sure

IMO it is safe to say the 50 something religions are simply the beginnings of what we now call a government?……think about it, how can one monkey controls the other monkeys in the tree?….fear and hope, that’s how.......most friends ask me how i live without hope?.......well, i worry about that when im dead, lol

For what its worth, some of my best friends are what I would call “respectable religious folks”……..and I know countless pretenders who say they are religious but break all the rules……those folks disgust me.

guys. ragincajun is my lil bro and i respect him alot for standin up to some of you(cmantle1). and to think i was thinkin about buyin your sled....this world puts enough pressure on young people and its not needed in a place where alot of young people seek advice. hayden(ragincajun) has a good head on his shoulders and i know he will succeed in everything he does. everyone makes bad choices including me in their live but some dont need the encouragement from the people they might look up to and call a friend. Ive seen what hayden is like every sunday and i pray everynight that something about it will catch his attention and be interesting to him. our whole family is really strong christians and we never really had a choice whether or not to go to church and the like but i have come to like it and realize what a difference it can make in a persons life. i know ill probably get criticized by posting this but putting youself out there for the sake of jesus christ our lord and savior is one thing that we as christians are called to do.

Whoa killer, standing up to me? man sure takes some nuts to argue on the internet!! im telling your little bro to have fun and not worry about if hes going to heaven or hell or trying to impress anyone... To think you would by my sled...OMG A DEVIL WORSHIPERS SLED!!:eek: AAHHH THE SNOWMOBILE IS POSSESSED!!!!

And pressure is not needed where people seek advice? are you talking about the forum?....

Everyone was just poking fun at your bro cause he comes on here and says hes a devout christian but drinks and knows he going to hell? if youve been on here for 2 minutes you would know were gonna give him flak for it. And im just poking fun at him with the posts. get overrr it.....

well i have been raised to be a devout christian but i am having a bit of a struggle right now. i know i am FAR from perfect and do all the high school kid things like go drink and what not but i try and do the better but i guess i am human and thank God for forgiveness. my parents have made me go to sunday school, vacation bible school and awana and all that left a bad taste in my mouth because i did not enjoy it at all. it was not what i wanted to do so it didnt do any good making me go. i guess what i am saying is that i am shying away from church which needs to change but i still consider myself a christian and am working on bettering myself. i know i am far from perfect and if i died today i know i would go to hell but i guess ill have to put forth more effort. i am going to college next fall so that will be a challenge with the drugs and all but i know there will be partying and stuff but no drugs! wish me luck!

Best advise I can offer is to keep your head on straight, and do the best you can. That is all that is required from you. Just try to have a little fun along the way.:beer;:beer;:beer;:beer; well, maybe it is better if you only have one. :beer; :p

Nicley put! Especialy like the part about religion/gov. controlling w fear and hope. Thats spot on my feelings on the church as well. The church is where the goverment learned to be corrupt. The goverment taxes, the church has got it down to the point that people give there money without hesitation ! it's the greatest fundraiser ever! It never ceases to amaze me how much power religion has over people! I guess will never understand and I am sure religious people feel the same about my point of view! All I know is that every time someone tries to explain there belifes It makes me feel like I am taking crazy pills and I get a nearly uncontrollable urge to knock some sense into them. like most I have freinds on both side of his debate an we have learned that Its is a a topic best not discussed at any length.

Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

John 14:6 (NKJV)

And I said to jesus make sure you trim the bushes by the mailbox, and get all the leaves out of the pool, and no one comes to the hot tub except through me.
....not sure if we are talking about the same guy though!

Nope! its not the same Guy! The Jesus They are talking about was a carpenter with mental problems (he heard voices and suffered from dillusions)but he died quite a while back and now days they make sure people like him get there meds !

weird.... one of the bastions of atheism, fredrick nietzsche spent the last several years in an insane assylum. i guess the meds didnt work out to well for him either. and let me remind you or perhaps enlighten you that hitler was a disciple of nietzsche. to those who will argue that christians have done much violence in the "name of christ"... let me be as straightforward as possible... those who kill or envoke violence to propagate the name of christ are acting in total contradiction to the message and the method. on the other hand, those imfamous figureheads that deny god's existence(hitler, stalin, etc) were operating in total harmony with their ideology. that is atheism taken to its logical conlusion. or to put it another way i will quote one much better at debating than me...." moral duty cannot logically operate without a moral law; and there is no moral law in an amoral world,"(ravi zacharias) now i know the majority of atheists have a general moral structure but this is acting contrary to what he believes. ultimatly he has no sense of compelling and universal moral obligation. this is a huge problem for evolutionists as well... i mean after all a self made world cannot communicate morals or any sense of obligation... obligation to who? if we all just die i am certainly not obligated to anybody. what difference does it make?

some of you are probably saying whoa settle down dude. well to be frank i get tired of some of you spewing your opinions with no factual data. i have tried to be as even handed as i can and deal with the claims put forward. and in return we get responses like above. im sure polzinhunter will say he was joking, or maybe not... either way he wasnt.

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written:

"I will destroy the wisdom of the wise,
And bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent."

Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom; but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

1 Corinthians 1:18-25 (NKJV)

I believe in something, but no church....

Whatever belief makes you a better person and if that belief makes you feel you have to go around making everyone believe what you believe then that religion is not making you a better person....just an annoying one. Who else wants to have an open season on Mormons and Jehovah's?

Your right! half humor half truth! it just sits funny to think that some people who hear voices and claim to have visions are labeled "insane " and other are label "Prophet". I am not trying to pick a fight! but you would have to admit it is certainly ironic how different each is treated. And just for the record I do not consider my self an atheist,a scientist,or a part of any group. I consider myself to be an explorer as I to am seeking truth! but I find No real truth in either religion or science both are filled with half truth and speculation that has been altered and maipulated by men. I am ever more certain we know almost nothing about who we REALLY are , where we came from ,or where we are headed . I am especially sceptical of both creationism and evolutionary theories both are full of holes . I think people should study more about the ancient civilizations and not just what they teach you in school ! there are alot of alternate theories that contradict conventional science. If you look at the knowledge held by such "Primitive cultures it is astonishing how they knew some of the things they did. It just boils down to both being tainted by man and there being little or no real truth in either!

But I make known to you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man. For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through the revelation of Jesus Christ.

Galatians 1:11-12 (NKJV)

"So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.”

Luke 11:9-10 (NKJV)

What is "it" ?? Does it ever really say or was it lost in the many translations from the original languge which it was written? Not being a wise guy....a real question!:beer;

The question is actually for you; What is “it” that you need…where do you need “it”…and when can God be there to minister “it”…?

See, God wants to have a personal intimate relationship with you as an individual, so “it” can be a multitude of different things, but more specifically the very thing that you may need at the very time you may need “it” in the very place that you may be…

…and no “it” wasn’t lost in translation…if you would like a copy of the original Greek text let me know…:D...

Jesus answered them and said, "Most assuredly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw the signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled. Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him."

John 6:26-27 (NKJV

man i hope you here me on this... no one appreciates the use of scripture more than me but apologetics is more than scripture. yes it is the sole and only basis of apologetics but other dialogue is useful and helpful. i think it would be helpful if you used scripture and then explained it. like say answering winterbrews question. just some constructive criticism... i hope you take it the right way???

You know what dude, that has already happened to the Mormons, and guess what they are still around. So I guess maybe you think the holocaust was an OK thing to do?

My questions is have the Mormons or the Jehovah's "made" you believe what they believe? Have they forced you to go to their churches? My guess would be no they haven't. I am sure they have asked you to go with them, learn about them, and even join there religion. But no one can "make" you believe what they believe.

Honestly, what harm have the Mormons or the Jehovah's done to you? Have they burned down you houses, churches and temples? Have they rapped your wives and children, killed the men and driven you out of your home, city, town and even state? I highly doubt that this has happened to you or anyone in your family. I would hope that today we would live in a country that would have a little more tolerance than what you have displayed in your comments.

I can't remember if it was you or someone else that said something to the effect that religious people are the cause of all the wars but according to what you have said in the above comment I think it is the complete opposite.

You have your own beliefs and I respect that. However I don't think you respect that others have beliefs that are not the same as yours, or you would not have made the comment that you did. I don't know anything about you or where you come from but I bet you are not the most polite person to encounter for these groups of people. If you had the similar passion about a certain religion and you belived that everyone should know about it becasue it has brought so much happiness into your life that you want to help and give back to humanity, would you go out and try to inform people of this great thing in your life or would you just sit on it and let your friends be in the dark on this great thing? For example, you just found the best friut to eat in the world, however you know there is no way that you could ever eat all of it becasue there is such and abundace of it and it is free for anyone to eat and enjoy and the supply would never run out. Would you tell your friends about this great fruit that you found and have them try it to find out for themselfes if this really is the greatest fruit in the world? Or would you be selfish and not tell anyone about the great thing in your life that has brought much happiness into your life?

This is all the Mormons and Jehovah's are doing. They have something that they want to share. If you don't like the fruit you don't have to take it, however you don't need to be a jerk to them, Tell them politely that you are not interested and they will go away. At least more often than not they will leave you alone. Mormon's will respect your decision to not participate. It does not mean they will never ask you again though. They want to give you every opportunity that they can for you to eat the fruit.

BTW the Missionaries in you area will be diffenerent poeple 9 out of 10 times they come to your house. These kids get moved to many different places throughout their 2 year mission. So there is no need to get mad at these kids just trying to share with you what they have learned.
