Great idea for getting your wife to ride more.

Found the pic I was looking for. This is for all the women that think they can't do it or keep up. This is a friend of ours that we ride with, her name is Sandy and she just turned 62 years young. This photo was taken last year at the sinks around Bear Lake.

Nice!!!!! and only 62. I'll have to show that to my 44 year old sister in law. They always buy the newest chit to go sit on and look cool cuz their to old for that kind of stuff.

I would like to thank my significant other for:

Never getting mad or yelling at me when I get stuck
Taking me everywhere and not making me stay on the trails
Always being patient when showing me how to improve my skills
Not making me feel bad for weighing more!
Letting me ride at my own pace (In front, helps for critiquing)
Always being there to teach me how to ride better.
Not pushing me to keep up, but lots of encouragement to try new things
Letting me have a decent sled to ride (Although not as modded)
Taking me everywhere and not making me stay on the trails
Showing by example what it takes to make pictures that are Breathtaking
And last but not least, for buying me Klim Gear so my Man Berries don't get cold!!

your right I have never heard of a garbage incident resulting in death....but....I have never heard of anyone being killed by stopping pointed uphill ......My point was ..as everyone else has more elequently put....dont push and bark about the little things because they will come in time.

You are correct, they will come.

I just don't want to be a widower because I didn't put enough enphasis on the importance of saving yourself FIRST, and then dig out your friends.

My wife is an angel for putting up with me!!!

Anyhow. SNOWBYRD! What an excellent post! There are many many peeps who would KILL to have a partner like yours. Me included. ;) (sleep with one eye open........) hehehe

We wouldn't want you to go getting soft on us Coyote.....LOL

My wife deserves a metal of valor for putting up with my ADHD and my tendency to be a sore loser, which therefore drives me to do whatever it takes to win.

What's even worse, I now have a little protege who is starting to act "just like his father" according to my wife.

The big thing with my wife was letting her ride it and complain.
Once we identified a problem (heavy steering on the 07 dragon), I got online and found a solution. Holz easy steer spindles and SLP powder pros. Then the seat, bar height, control positioning, etc.
Once it was confortable for her, she flat out rips on that sled. now she wants nitrous. She wants to be able to catwalk her sled.

Something for the guys to think about. When you are trying to get the wife, girlfriend, whatever to ride with ya. LEAVE THE GUYS.
Ladies have a sence of style. They don't like to think they look foolish. They don't mind getting frustrated and cussing when it's just you and her (unless your my wife, she'll cuss up a storm in front of anyone).
Take her out, teach her when there is no-one else around. She won't mind messing up, getting stuck, rolling the sled, whatever.
If you put her in a group of your riding buddies she will spend the whole trip worriing about messing up, looking foolish or slowing you down and will be miserable.

So, if you want to go riding with her and teach her, then ride with HER, not your buddies.

AMEN!!!!!! After a while look out.....pretty soon your buddies wont want to ride with your wife because she will have the capabilities to outride them.....

HAHAHAHAHA, nice Brian... I love the modded sled part! and how to make pics breathtaking... ya, she sure does have that about her!!!

and, um why won't you guys move over here so i have my best riding buddies ever back?!?! I never quite realized how good I had it with you guys until I figured all couples were like you and was proven different! hahahaaha...

Brian and Nikki are some of the best people to get out riding with, skill and attitude. You Western Wa folks are lucky to have them!

Ahhh that Nikki!

Snowbyrd, your wife has one of the coolest pictures of all time! I have her on my desktop.....she represents what it feels like to be a chick riding! I am still moved by that pic, it just says it all don't it?! :D

Is this R.D.?

Like Ollie said, leave the guys at home. From my limited experience it is much better to take the wife and girls if there are other wives and kids riding with us.

Try to make sure they don't get cold - use heat packets if needed and bring a thermos of hot chocolate.

Try to pick a trip when the weather is sunny and the winds are low.

Avoid the popular holidays if possible, especially if doing a lot of trail riding because the trails are more apt to get whooped out.

Probably helps to sleep in each day and generally take things at a slower pace. No 5 a.m. wakeups and 12 hour days on the mtn. More like 10-4 for riding, something like that.

Staying at a place where you can ride from your room might be a good idea.

My first piece of advice for keeping your wife on a sled is to not have her riding your back up sled, which is the sled you replaced for the new and improved model that handles 5 times easier. I know that my wifes riding skill level went way up once she moved from the edge chassis to the IQ chassis. My second piece of advice is to not be mean when she does something wrong, which is something i've been guilty of many times, and I've almost lost a very reliable riding partner because of it. My wife rides with me about 95% of the time, and I have riding buddies that are always willing to give her help. Also because shes a girl, dont be scared to take her out of her comfort zone when riding, because when she does something difficult she will be proud of herself.

Yes ^, I do not like messing up in company. Sometimes it is even better when my sweetie isn't looking ether. :D
