Golden conditions

Kicking Horse has received 34cm's so far in this storm cycle....wind is gusting on and off right now. Currently -15 up high, nice light snow, here's hoping the wind isn't blowing it around too bad. Think I'm heading out Friday.

Just got back from Golden and was riding their on Weds and Thurs. Haven't seen snow like that at Silent Pass all year!!! Blue bird and 3 plus feet everywhere and untouched. Rode Silent both days and myself and another turbo were the only ones to get to the backside while everyone else barely made it above the lakes cause it was soooooo deep!! Careful though, everything was coming down on the steeper elevations and south facing slopes. Great weekend to be had by everyone heading out.

I'll agree with you prowlerk that the snow was deep but it wasn't only turbo's that made it back there though, we were the 3 800 Doo's that were talking with you guy's at the lake while you fueled up. We went over 1-1.5 hrs after you and each of us made are own tracks. I can't beleive you just dropped in and turned around and left, we couldn't beleive that wide open area didn't have any tracks in it. We ripped it up some but were low on fuel and had leave. I'm sure who ever went today had a blast.:D:beer;

Right on Winko, we missed you guys over there! We only made those couple tracks cause we were right out of fuel as well!! Would have killed for one more jerry can!!

On Sunday March 01 a bunch of us went on a ride to Gorman. There was lots of fresh powder close to three feet in places but even with the fresh powder they are short on snow.Getting over the ridge heading back into the secret stuff was dicy.Lots of ice and dirt at the top but once you dropped in it wasn't to bad. You had to be carefull as there were lots of barely hidden rocks. We made it back to the ridge over looking Quartz Creek trail and had lunch here and counted at least twenty sleds on the trail out of Quartz so it must of been busy.Glad we didn't go there.
We played as much as possible in what ever meadows there was everything was untouched. You could see by the cracking on most hills kept us away from much climbing that and the rocks.
Near the end of the day my diamond drive blew up so I had to leave it there on Upper Quartz Lake till Tuesday afternoon before Alpine Helicopters could get in to pick her up due to bad weather up top.Excellent guys Paul & Don they found my sled with my directions as I had lost my GPS on my previous ride. Store Alpine's # 250-344-7444 they went the extra mile to get my sled out.
This will be my last trip to Gorman this season unless they get lots more snow just not worth it.

Cheers,
Dave

gorman looks like junk, did golden get the snow that invermere got today/last night. im sure that silent would have got it.

I had a friend go to Silent on Wed.March 4 and he said there was twice as much then Gorman. He said they played in untouched powder over a foot deep with blue sky for the day.He was with me at Gorman on the weekend so I'd say he is a reliable source. Still can't believe how bad it was there for this time of year.

Cheers,
Dave

I rode in Gorman last Friday and had an amazing day - yah the saddles inbetween all the zones are bare, the snow was light and the wind was strong, carried it all away. We spent half the day in Holt and Half in Lang, found nothing but nice wind lips and jumps and drops all day in Holt and super deep tree riding in lower Lang. I guess if you are into going up the steepest slope or chute to the top then yah it's a pretty rough year out there, otherwise I thought it was awesome riding. All video footage and reports I have heard support that Silent was the best of all, and Quartz a close second.

Locals are spoiled!
GSR, is that all Quartz..... give us some hints on Chatter.... you guys MUST have gone in there by now, or are you going to wait till April to go in(OR will the road still be blocked off for us)?

Yeah that is all quartz. Crazy huh? I've had some of the deepest days of the season there this year. I haven't been into chatter yet this season. I won't be in there until the 15th of April. Can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cold enough and snowing hard when we pulled out of gorman area this afternoon.....few days of this and it's gonna get really good. Had an amazing day today, bit of fresh (15cm's?) blown in to 45 or so on lots of slopes and treed pockets. What a fun day. I'm tired.

Heard this was the deepest weekend of the season. Had some buddies from Calgary stop in the shop and they said it was the best weekend they have ever had in G-town. That was cool to hear!

Hey guys, I was in Silent yesterday and it was sooo deep. Tree riding was amazing. It was socked in so we didn't go up very high, but low was Deeeeeep with a capital "D".
