Golden conditions

Getting chewed up right now and rougher by the day. Some stuff to hunt for in the trees but a lot of the open areas were ripped earlier this week and last weekend. There were lots of people out there on spring break.

Did rain down town, but did a delivery to QUARTZ this morning and man oh man. Sunny skies, and I could see the snow line from the parking lot. GAME ON! Looked amazing up there. Thank god for elevation baby!!!

We tore it up at Gorman on Sunday, lots of untracked but deadly conditions, almost all south facing slopes had slid. We mostly played in the bottom valleys and found some fun side hill kickers and step up jumps. Be very careful out there guys. Trail was up was great, cudo 's to the crew.

Was also at Gorman sunday. YES LOTS OF SLIDES. Was a great Day other then taking out the suspension on the right hand side of my sled........

Hey Calgary Sled guy..... We were sitting right beside you at the bottom of the that big hill in Lang....We were highmarking each other there! Did you guys get that seld out ok??? That was one hell of a drop your boy did over that rock!! Pretty crazy!

Anyway, ya conditions are pretty scary..... we almost couldn't get out of cirque cause an Avy filled in the chute after we dropped in - had to ride over the avy to get out of there.... pretty scary.... be carefull out there everyone!!!

Too much more warm weather and we're going to be riding dirt on the way in soon! I really noticed on Thursday how little snow there is on the way in to Quartz.

I dont recall anyone in our group doing a drop off a rock. Must have been someone else........a few guys Hit a Rock . LOL

I think the guy who did the big drop was one of the "GSR" guys, it was more of a side hill /cornice huck than a rock drop that our group saw, but it was big and he was commited none the less, that dude hucked that WIDE OPEN. We all were impressed whoever your are.

With the avy conditions the way they are you are nuts to be highmarking anything, especially in Lang right now IMO. We were tuning on the lake Saturday and it was crazy for avy's, regardless of slope aspect, etc. The whole southface of the lake slid at about 4pm. Everything is sliding on the sugar snow from early in the season (pwl). There are some massive walls coming down right now, if you get caught in the wet spring snow it will be your coffin. I think we heard 8 reports of people being partially buried on Saturday alone. None of them really knew just how close they were to being killed, everyone just sort of had a "oh well" cavalier attitude about it. Watched some guys playing in Lang, all on the hill at the same time........

Play safe folks, go for a ride and have a good time, but stay off the big stuff cuz when she lets loose........

good post man, on sunday there were some people doing very stupid stuff, I was just cringing watching. I played it safe jumping my sled off rollers and wind lips, I also smashed up my front end( f-ing tree's) but it's better than being 6 feet under, be safe out there.

Your right it was one of the GSR guys who did the one you are talking about Steel town. And i was Very Impressed. We stoped in to drop off the beacon and they said it was the one guy. Not sure his name.

14C when we got back to the trucks on sunday. The powder is gone fellas.

Dug a pit on a South-Westish slope. 1m or so of fresh bonded very poor to the base. Next worst layer is the very bottom sugar about 8ft down

Was in Lang and East Quartz on saturday, had an amazing day. The whole day was about jumping and avoiding the huge slopes. Some people weren't concerned with the avy danger, we watched some silly things happening. I went out again Monday and again saw some guys down in holt riding on one of the last south facing slopes to still have snow on it, 2 at a time, following each other up the slide zone, then stopped for a snack or whatever mid slope. Our day was going great, warm and sunny, fun conditions, jumping and dropping everything we could find....then I landed on a huge rock in east quartz, blew my front cooler right off, snapped exhaust side e-module in about 4 places. Was interesting towing a sled out of there. Not easy at all, but we made it. Seasons done, summer rebuild project now. Enjoy the rest of the year boys.

Sorry to hear that Nate. It's getting to be dirt-bike season anyway. I don't think I'll be riding to the end of may like last year, unless it snows a lot in the next bit.
