Etec XP X, Pro RMK, or Proclimb 800

It would be nice if it did weigh less! YES! But we are mtn riders and beat the hell out of these sleds, right? We also like to mod these sleds and put turbos and such on them, right? So this talk of dropping weight is just summer boredem and something to talk about. How's the running boards and tunnel holding up the Pro RMK? How about that sweet carbon fiber bumper? How about those A-arms? With only 1500 miles on the Pro it's hard to say what the long term durability is going to be on them, but I'd bet this coming winter we'll see a few threads of Pro's needing a few of those parts!

The new Cat is over built and ready for 177 - 300hp , plane and simple! It won't need anything but a big azz TURBO! And I bet the Cat loses weight next year while the Pro gains weight to beaf it up like the ol XP gained it's weight a few years later! You add horsepower and the chassis needs to be that strong to handle it!

the cat needs refinements when i rode it the plastics seemed to always be getting loose and vibrating all over and they have a over heating issue even in deep powder.i still think the pro will remain on top for this year to

Who would have thought this thread would trainwreck? Just go to the dealer and see which one looks cool.
Agree!!!!!
And....I swear if I hear one more person say an XP isn't for tree riding.....

You rode prototype sleds with parts that were basiclly hand fab'd and fit like crap then. The production sled will be tight. Wait till you see them on the snow before making guestimates like that!

xp's ride wheelies and thats about it, :boxing:

Your in montana, how about you come over and prove it or I will come there, you can't be that far away, I have yet to see one handle like a pro or well setup cat. I'm not completely saying it can't be done but to the extent of what I have seen IMO it ain't going to happen. But you can be the first to prove me wrong.

All of that held up just fine on mine....was it not supposed to? Is there a sled that doesn't bend running boards, bumpers and a-arms when you hit stuff? If there is, I want that one. While you're at it, sign me up for a truck that doesn't get dents when you back into stuff.

That sled is my current M series, has perfectly straight boards, bumpers and A arms! That's why I love it!:becky:

Right until you hit something. I have limped out my buddy's 2010 M8 with 2 busted a-arms after hitting a stump....does that mean its weak? I made it all year without bending an a-arm on my Pro....does that mean the Pro is stronger? The only sled we towed out this entire spring was a 2011 M8. Does that mean it's a less reliable sled than the 07 Rev and 09 Dragon that were also with us that day? My seat isn't torn at all....damn that Polaris must use some good material?

I love the idiots who think their personal experiences are the only ones.....as if no one else actually rides these things.

You just pointed out the two most unreliable sleds in the past few years and yet wonder why we question the poo 800. hmmm.

I know eh! Damn idiots, you and I really ride!!!

I weighed this unit as delivered, for those who may be unfamiliar with how they come, here is an overview. Unit starts and runs (very little fuel), coolant full, brake, suspension and chain case fluids full, some injection oil (pint-ish), drive belt (no spare), hardware and tools in bag on tunnel. I use a suspension scale and tare with three tie downs. This unit weighed 452lbs +/- a couple lbs as most scales vary. On the very same scale the Arctic M8 153 SP as delivered was 476lbs. Should be exciting to how light we get the new RMK as our builds progress.

Pro's weighed exactly what Polaris said they would.....it was well documented with pictures on here when they came out.

With the same fliuds as Cat and Skidoo, the Pro weighs in at.

'11 Cat = 476
12 cat 489
'10 Skidoo R = 460
'11 Skidoo E-tec = 490
'11 Pro = 456

i agree to an extent, i cant ride an xp....feels like im riding a shovel.
however if you check the new slednecks, you will see cory micku putting that xp into places i sure as hell wouldnt take my m series lol... i doubt you would either, no offence.

When I get on here and say, yes I would, it means nothing, I will still say it but whats the point, I need a film crew, or ride with some of you, tell then its all about the popcorn. Those guys in the films doing all that bad azz chit that everyone dreams of, well those guys are no different than any other guy that can sack up and make it happen.
But just to be clear, IN NO WAY AM I CLAIMING I AM AS GOOD AS THEM, I have never rode with them to know, hopefully some day I will.

Then why do you rant about us ranting about the poo 800 being weak.
I was saying you don't have much evidence to build your case the the pro motor is weak other than hearsay and the odd issue that all 2-strokes are prone to. Maybe in years to come, who knows. I have a riding partner who ran 12lbs on his all year no issues....seemed fine to me? Mine ran dead even with the etec and 2011 M sled on hill drags.....so doesn't seem down on power to em? But that's just more he said she said and you won't believe that anymore than I believe you.....feel dat?

When I say weak, I am talking about the internals, the crank is weak compared to the cat, any engine builder will tell you that. As for power the cat responds to mods better than the rest, its proven. As for the normal sled and hill drags I agree and its completely pointless

I am not saying he can keep up with all the guys in the movies but after riding a half day with WYO i can tell you that he can ride. He pulled some impressive sidehills with his TM8! the only thing i was bumbed about was he didn't let me ride it :)

All you had to do was ask,
come again and pull out a video camera and you will see what happens, that was a pretty easy going day.
