I forgot to take pictures before I installed them but I just got a set or SLP weights and. Some updated speing rates to run as soon as we get some more snow. Our first snowfall has settled down to about a foot of very firm snow. So a little fresh on top and I'll be able to at least road ride and get a deecent gauge of response.

On thr slp weights. When lining g them up with a pin and setting them on the heel with an oem 14-78 the roller contact point is a bit higher tightening the belt to sheave once installed. This will be a welcome improvement as especially once the sheaves have worn some from belt slip my clearance was pushing .100" I'll update the post when I have a chance to measure the updated clearances.

I just measured my belt to sheave with the new SLP weights and we are now down in the .030" range. I don't have a P22 puller so measuring in the sled Its hard to get a perfect number but its a LOT tighter. Also confirmed by just a quick 'roll out' test on the shop floor, engagement and forward movement feels a LOT smoother. This is promising.

Alright, not the most amazing ride on this setup but got probably 15 miles, roads with a a foot or so of snow getting into 2 of firmer snow up higher and was able to get some deecent load on things. Bottom end is noticably better. theres still obviously a tiny flat spot from dead stop compared to NA but overall MUCH better.

engagement still is right at 4k with the 25# lower start. I may try to oem spring and a 150/310 once we have more snow but overall im very please.

Currently have the weights loaded to 74g. going to bump in one more set screw to be 75.2g and should be about perfect. shallow snow makes peak hard to monitor well but it felt like i was just a touch high a lot, saw a bunch of 8500 and some 8600. we shall see. easy to change in the field as well on this weight package.

Sheaves are nice and clean with no streaking so thats also a good feeling.
 
Yup, Just say it happened last year and you just got it in now to get fixed. ?
 
Update on this issue:
On our 7075 Covers we have built in 0.025" of extra clearance from our cover to the Spyder to get full shift. The clutch sheaves will now touch first . Had to do something similar when I designed a Cat clutch cover a few years ago.

The P22 incorporates a non adjustable spider that leads to an issue with a wide belt to sheave measurement. I have measured them in excess of .080”.
The sheaves will mate at the same time the cover hits the spider.
This causes a loss of belt grip that you will witness at the outer edge of the P22 in streaking.
In my honest opinion the P22 should be shelved and re-engineered.

Update on this issue:

Thats good as some covers to spider had zero to 0.005" at most
That 0.025" will let you put a 0.010" shim as most have zero belt to sheave gap too.

Tony, Curious are you seeing the same issues on current P 22’s?

For my own knowledge, I was researching just on the web how to gain the same bottom end snappiness that my 850 with Boondocker high energy weights has for my upcoming 2025’ boost. I know the 24s have much more bottom end snappiness. For my own knowledge gain, I wanted someone to give a practical, logical explanation as to why a 850 turbo sled cannot have the same bottom end snappiness as my 850 and then have the turbo hit to provide top end power.

I know there’s a reason, but I need someone to draw me pictures on the whiteboard😂😂
