Big iron shootout

If it wasn't for all the years of club efforts, we wouldn't have access to these awesome riding areas.
With a few extra funds...who knows, it might lead to improved parking facilities, permanent signage in the cut blocks, funds to maintain the continual talks with environmental and gov't groups...and the list goes on.
Let's look at this from the big picture of sustainable mountain snowmobiling, not just one weekend of fun. :)

regarding why donate if the society and club are not supportive....instead of public relations, its srs and rcs relations. if you don't like it, don't come!

Whew! It has taken a few days and a lot of phone calls, but we now have medics & gear for the hill and have communicated with the local emergency organizations, helicopter companies and the forestry to ensure that everyone is aware of the protocols and availability of any resources that may be necessary to run this day smoothly and safely.

Randy & Lori Zacaruk will be starting to flag the cut blocks on Thursday morning and look forward to meeting any of you that may be available to help out. 403-860-9944

Dusty, did you have any luck rounding up some survey lathe to flag the riding areas?
Heads up...anyone planning enter the riding areas will be required to complete a waiver of liability. Waivers will be available at Zala's on Friday for those already in town. They may also be completed on the hill.

Bring a few extra bucks to the trail booth as you will be asked to throw in a donation to help cover the expenses of the day. Any funds that are generated that exceed the costs will be donated to the SRS & the Revelstoke Snowmobile Club.

Please recognize that the parking constraints are very real. The SRS always works hard to arrange the lots efficiently, but once they are full, they are full. Parking along the highways is not possible. You will be towed.

If you are making the journey to Revelstoke, please have an alternate plan in mind. You may be the 1001st person. Avoid making a scene at the trail booth. It doesn't help anyone. Neither do nasty phone calls to the SRS and the RSC. These volunteers have put up with a lot of our sh## over the years. Cut them some slack.

Please support our efforts to maintain peace, respect and responsibility while enjoying a wicked day on the mountain. If we look after ourselves properly this weekend, who knows...2010 is a year away...a lot of good things can happen between now and then.

So far this week this has been my feelings: :light: :rolleyes: :light: :confused: :eek: :mad: :light: :) :D :beer;

Thank you Lori and Randy.

lori, are you packing a dictionary around in your gear bag? "sustainable mountain snowmobiling" thats a great slogan, i don't mind paying extra for one day, i guess it's like paying extra for a hockey play-off ticket rather than a regular season ticket. see ya guys tomorrow morning.

as a side note, i think that it's awesome for randy and lori to grab the bull by the horns to jump in on the pre-staging for the week-end, and give a break to the revy members who work all winter and summer to keep the areas open for us.

Fantastcic Job Lori and Randy!!

People........These 2 hard working individuals have been in Revy all week working behind the scenes to co-ordinate and administrate on your behalf. While there may be some differences within the community, it appears the event will go ahead with some of the requirements in place, that should be in place this year, and for years to come.
If any of you want this to grow into the possibility of a permanent event in the future, I would suggest we all act responsible both on the hill and off....including on snowest and other forums. We are being watched and judged by all.
The Zac's have met with "almost all" who have some influence over the success and future of this weekend. I am certain they would rather be out sledding than meeting with people who could care less if we existed. So hats off to them in a big way.
As far as the extra donation over and above what the SRS charges for trail pass. I know I will toss some in.

More details to come and please respect the CUTBLOCKS and PACK OUT WHAT YOU BRING IN......( hoods and windshields included).

See ya Saturday!!
RS

adding to climbmax statement "pack out what you bring in", you can drop off your wrecked hoods, windshields, a-arms, trailing arms, ski's in the snowmobile recycling trailer in the parking lot.

I won't be going, but will send up a bunch of snow fence and barricade tape with clearcut steve and miles on friday morn . My donation to the REVELSTOKE snowmobile club, so that my friends and I can enjoy the mountain for the many years to come. Would just like to ask that everyone who goes respect the closed areas, I deal with forestry and enviromental groups and 90% of the guys on here think they are blowing smoke out of there a$$es. They AREN'T !!!!!! They have more votes in the legislature than we have, they CAN and WILL close our areas the first chance they get. They will use bull%^&t enviromental reports and do whatever it takes. So, Bloody well be smart, warn the uneducated, and have an awesome weekend.

i talked to the ozone guy he say s support the club the society and everyone else its up to us all to do our part our future depends on it bruce from psi come see the ozone guy at the tent

Well said! Lets get so it can be a repetable event. If we show we can police ourselfs it will go a long way. What does it hurt to throw in a extra 20 bucks for the club, money in the rite pockets to me? I got a side bet I will gladly pass over;)

Oh and once again a BIG thanks to Lori and Randy!!

for those that don t get up on sat14 we will be going back up on sun 15 to turbo 1200pm show down at high noon rock paper sledders true story brad

As far as it goes for putting in stakes and ribbons to mark out the cut blocks, my wife and myself will be in town tomorrow morning and would like to help out.

your next clue james bond goldfinger how did dr evil get into fort knox and how did james bond find out and who did he sleep with galorie tim hortons

Looking forward to the event on saturday, been to the past BIS and it does not disappoint. Just wondering though, everyone on this site and many other sites feel very confident that they are going to be able to watch the BIS:confused: Are the RCMP going to be there to control the people that are over the 1000 person limit? Its gonna get ugly. Sure not much talk by people on what time they are heading out of the hotels in the early morning. I'm sure the bars will be very slow friday nite;) I'm not to worried, I'll miss the crowds and put an extra 5 gallons of fuel on the sled and come in from eagles pass:p

Just wanted to chime in even though I will not be there. A reminder from 06. RCMP were checking to make sure all sleds were tied down. Including inclosed trailers. Even sleds in the back of pick-ups with the gate up had to be tied front and back.

Also wanted to thank Lori and Randy for stepping up and doing what ozone couldn't do...Make this an organized event that can be proactive instead of slapping us all in the face by ignoring all the warnings from the MOF.

Enjoy the weekend everyone.
Barton

It isn't just Lori and Randy, there are many people to be thanked for their help to get organized. Dave has also been a part of our efforts and without Ozone and the Raptosaurus, well....we wouldn't have 27,254 views to this thread.
Besides, one man can't seriously be expected to arrange a gathering of this size. It takes a team. Yeah team!! :D
