When was the last time you priced recreational mountain property in Colorado. Even with a BIG lotto winning you aren't picking up enough to avoid the crowds. I have clients that bought 1000 acres, cost them 12 million. 1000 acres is a sad little playground compared to what we have public access to.
So you are saying being close to a major metro area is a good thing? Or that 2hrs from town is somehow a LONG way? I drive 12 -15 miles to ride. I wouldn't live within 2 hrs of a city like that for anything...
My point was, that is a VERY popular area and you are going to be dealing with lots of riders. Had he chosen further south in the state, the crowd issue could have been completely avoided. Besides, our mountains are bigger...
Well... I only drive 6-8 miles to ride and I could, mid season, ride right out of my garage if I wanted to. Grand Lake is closer to the Denver metro area than Rabbit Ears by a good 45 minutes, and it can be very crowded, especially on the weekends (much smaller riding area than RE). And yet, once I get a mile or three from the parking lot, I almost never see another sled. Maybe I just ride terrain that's a little too challenging for most riders (like you?). And DPG never specified what lottery or how much $ was won. 'Your client' may have spent $12M, but if you keep up with current events, some lotteries are getting over $1B! That would buy quite a chunk of real estate, even in pricey Colorado. And in my experience, those who brag about how big their mountains are, tend to be challenged in other areas of 'size'.
Oh, and my dad can beat-up your dad! So there!!
