thanks, its a great mod,bdx should lean in this direction in instructions, anyway look at sandmans pics on page one...i didn;t know he went this way as well...his is a great install...anyway my tailight will be taken out of the recess and l will rig a mini storage area as im getting the boss seat with the led..later...

Just ordered one today along with the 2 wheel axle, and the oil delete.
Got an LED light from SLP and will either recess it in my boss seat, or make a bracket so it mounts above the tail end of the bumper.

bumper kit

Has anyone tried the snobunjie test with this kit? BD said he hasn't tried it. I use mine alot! This kit looks awesome and if it stands up to a snobunjie, I'm ordering one in a heartbeat!!!

I have towed a couple of sleds with the snobunjie and never had any problems. I have also pulled people out that were stuck and had no problems, but I never hit the end of the snobunjie at 40 mph either though.

I have yanked quite a few people with this kit and my snowbungie. Several of them were stuck bad enough that they didnt come out and I went over the bars. The bumper is fine, but it did change its geometry just enough that my rear heat exchanger doesn't flop around anymore. If you sight down the sides of the bumper you can see where it has conformed a bit to the heat exchanger.

Yank away.

I think the best part about this pic is wondering if that 1m looking sled is a KK? Prob should post these pics on the thread "King Kats dominate M1000". Ya think? Love to stir the pot......................SLEDIOT

FYI for guys wondering about lights, one option.

I pulled the rear middle gas rack screw, drilled the hole out, drilled in from the rear of the gas rack to meet the vertical cavity, shaved off the rounded part in the middle so the LED would sit flat & riveted a LED to the gas rack.

Best looking setup with a light that I've seen so far.
I can't quite see doing all this work & then slapping a few pounds of plastic back on the sled, we pay too much for lost weight.

Also, I think if you install the bumper sticking out the rear more you're more likely to have problems with bending.

the 1m looking sled is an 03 1m with a 150x16x2.5 Camo Extreme and a stock engine. It was being piloted by my very new to riding wife in some really nasty rotten spring snow. theDougdangerAK was riding it for the recovery incase the bungie broke. (I got lots of friends, only one wife :D )

I will post pictures of the bumper if people really want to see.

Hello:

I ordered a kit last week and it arrived today. Very fast shipmnt. I also was a little concerned about how sturdy the bumper is. Upon inspection, I have to say that it is a lot heavier than it looks in the pics and the actual bumper area has an additional piece of metal inserted before it is formed. How about this for will power. I looked over the bumper and put it back in the box as I do not intend to put it on until maybe September. Well....maybe August but surely no earlier than ahhhh July sometime. Well whenever it is I will bump this thread back to the top and post some pics.

The a-arm is fine. But a buddy of mine and fellow snow wester has ripped off a couple ski loops with his bungie.

Here are a few pictures of the bumper. Please note I did check the bumper when I first installed it, so some of the gap at the mid and near end of the scale might have come from the manufacturing process. I did notice at the time of install that the heat exchanger flopped around, this caused the back of my tunnel to buckle. Then a few weeks ago a box showed up at my door from BDX, inside was some new brackets that should prevent this from happening. Talk about great customer service! I had already accepted it as a minor trade off for an otherwise great product and came up with a home grown solution, but they took it upon themselves to engineer a very clean and tidy solution and ship it to me for free. I have never even heard of such outstanding customer service, muchless experienced it for myself.

One note about the pictures... They make it look like the bumper has dented into the exchanger tube, but I dont believe this to be the case. I think its from the exchanger wearing on the bumper pre-bungie :D (or the new brackets)

if you install the kit the way i did you will not have problems with the heat exchanger because you leave it mounted just the way it was stock, no mess no fuss!!! plus if you cut and mod the stock bumper you get a very nice FACTORY look and protection for the exchanger.
